Project Restart - Hoping for 8th June

Fully understand the concern of some players due to their personal circumstances and it's only human many may be apprehensive just like any of us returning to work whether we're healthy in general or not.

However, it's abundantly clear some clubs and their representatives are trying to influence things due to their precarious league position.

What is really annoying though is the few players who suddenly think they should sit doing nothing on full pay and not be used for other's entertainment. So not only do you think you're not an employee, but you clearly have fuck all respect for all the other more modestly paid people employed at your own club and the football industry in general.
A large proportion are financially illiterate and not very good at expressing themselves. That’s why a lot go bankrupt after they retire. They seem to have no concept of how much more they earn than most normal people or how much they’ll be able to earn once they’ve stopped playing. Or where the money comes from.

It’s a weird scenario whereby the players are both employees, earning wages and assets, with a saleable value. In any other business you’d get to the point where the employer just says ‘if you can’t work, I can’t pay you’ but in their cases, if the employer pays their contract up and tells them to fuck off, the employer loses an asset. So the clubs just kick the can down the road and hope things will sort themselves out, whilst some of them who might benefit from the season being declared null and void, use these players as mouthpieces to promote their argument.

It’s a shitshow really. The best thing to do is ignore them.

Given we still haven't tested carehome staff on a regular basis and the horrific numbers still keep climbing, I would much rather our club abandon Restart and hand over all our testing facilities to the cities care homes rather than continue with a meaningless entertainment for the morally ignorant and the financial satisfaction of millionaires. Then get the lawyers to focus on this garbage governments negligence and those politico's who treated CV19 like a normal everyday flu.
That's why we're so far behind the likes of Germany in handling this pandemic- it is a 3rd Coronavirus in 17years and they have not learnt from the other 2.

My Mum is in a care home and all residents and staff have been tested and staff are regularly retested. Testing is no longer a problem.

This is the flipside of the Deaney/Rose arguement,

Serge Aurier: Tottenham investigate after player seems to break social-distancing rules

players breaking social distancing for their own purposes so not all are scared.

Adrian Mariappa is the Watford player now named as having the virus yet this morning the 3 at Watford didnt want to be named for Medical Confidentiality.

"It was a big surprise because I haven't really left the house," Mariappa, 33, told the Telegraph.
"Apart from some exercise and the odd walk with the kids, I've mainly just been homeschooling and keeping fit.
"My lifestyle is very quiet, certainly no parties or going out or anything, so I really don't know how I got it."
The Jamaica international said he has had no symptoms and felt "as fit as ever".

In it for the money ???

So in your view 1 private company should stop trading to provide tests for another private company? Weird flex!

Free tests are available to anyone over the age of 5 who have the symptoms. If this is the case the government should be able to test people in care homes without the need for the PL tests. Instead of trying to hit a 100,000 tests per day target move these all to care homes. Nothing to do with PL and their testing.

You also missed out all the stadium staff who are like you and me and get a normal wage getting the PL back will help towards safeguarding their jobs. Football clubs are a business same as everyone else.
Given the quantity of tests now available, the fact that key workers still struggle is a joke. It's just poor organisation and the ELL isn't stealing a test off anyone

I see Nathan Blake is the latest to join the calls that football returning is ridiculous as it's only entertainment.

Whilst I understand his concern as a black person, his view that football shouldn't return until the virus has been eradicated is just as, if not more ridiculous.

Some of these players seem utterly oblivious to the implications of football being mothballed for a significant period.

It may come under the entertainment industry but it's still an industry providing a livelihood to a huge number of people and an immense tax revenue.

Like any other industry shield the most vulnerable, respect individual circumstance, put all precautions in place, and allow those happy to continue to help get things moving.

Unfortunately football has produced some people who think they should be treated differently to others.

Aye they will use those dolls from South Korea to fill in the gaps !

Presuming we'll play the rest of the games behind closed doors, how does everyone feel this will affect the players?
And from a Blades point of view, do you think it will be advantage, disadvantage or won't make any difference to our performances and results?

Presumably the prima donnas will be devastated that they can't showboat in front of their adoring fans (maybe they'll sulk 🤭 )
The real footballers will carry on as they always do and always have done by playing a game of competitive football.

I think our players will be as fit as anyone in the league if not fitter with our coaching staff, and have enough about them to have a "we're doing it for them" attitude that will take the place of us actually being there and cheering them on.

I think it will depend on whether we have the same countdown to kickoff and entrance music, which as we all know is absolutely critical to the success of the team.
