Without going all 'Darren', a realist is someone who deals with literal truth or facts.

'He will be crap because he's been on the bench at Crewe' is not realism, neither is 'He was good 5 years ago and will do OK for us', both are possible but both rely on a huge slice of supposition and opinion.

Sometimes, 'I'm just a realist' is justified but I'm with you when simply backing up an opinion with 'I'm a realist' is just as bad as putting someone in the 'clapper' or 'knocker' catagory just because you don't agree with them.

FACT ;)

Er, no, a player struggling to get into Crewe's team is not likely to be a very good footballer. That is a realistic proposition.
The huge slice of supposition is Blackie's ability to turn him into a decent player.

Steady on, I'm in public sector, we're not all as depressed as this!

I thought the new coalition were making swingeing cuts in the public sector, surely the first place to look would be the productivity of someone contributing to internet forums throughout the working day

Balls, the smiley was supposed to follow my sarky post norfolkblade. Bloody computers, what happened to good old fashioned writing, I don't know, back in my day etc etc.

I was a bit angry until I read your next post, I'm actually on my lunchbreak SB, no harm done, though doing a proper job (accountant) I'd imagine I'm up for the chop anyway

Can you imagine forums where you had to write in and wait to be printed...... oh wait, what has happened to 'in off the post' in the green 'un

one thing we are good at dahn't lane (as well as finding keepers) is resurrecting bad boys careers (read hutchinson, brown, halford).. might get a bargain here, who knows?

Some lovely opinions expressed here about both Walton and his lass.

Personally I wish Walton the very best at United. True he may not have pulled up any trees in his career yet but good on Blackie for trying to go back to basics and adopting the NW approach of bringing in players with something to prove.

For every James Harper there is a Greg Halford.

I just hope that Walton settles in Sheffield, gives it his very best during his time at United and proves all the doubters (both on the fans forums and at other clubs wrong).

Unless you know something I don't, there's no need for this. How about supporting him whenever he plays for us instead?

He's in his early twenties and he has already had a dozen clubs, that tells you all you need to know.

Various managers have commented on his poor attitude and fans of the teams he has played for are full of stories about his petulance and tantrums.

At least petulance and tantrums are a little easier to get over than some of the stuff we've had previously.

He's been warned it's his last opportunity and to sort himself out, he either blows it and we bin him off.... or he becomes the player Blackwell used to see in him.

No brainer ,he has the potential to be a major signing but if he blows it we feck him off ,if he is a success we get firsst dibs on him ,whats to lose ?

22 year old with a good footballing pedigree ebven if hes a mongrel in his life

up to us polish the turd

He's on loan so we can ditch him if he hasn't learned his lessons.

What's more, he's waived his appearance fees and win bonuses. So as gambles go, I don't see the harm in this one. If Blackwell thinks he has traction with the kid, then let's see.

I'd sooner see Walton given a last chance to become a real player than see the likes of Jonathan Fortune given a final curtain call.

I've just read the interview on the O/S. He's certainly saying all the right things and is quite open about his failings in the past.

Maybe... just maybe ... we could be on to a winner (until January when someone else will snatch him away for a fee that we can't match).

This is united were talking about

Aye, we'll definitely have it covered. Several posters pointed out that signing a player who struggled to get in Crewe's first team was a no-lose signing only a few days ago.

They did not listen, they're not listening still............

........perhaps they never wiiiiillllllllllllllllllll

It's alright for some, especially those that had the good sense to steer clear of a season ticket...

What have we lost Len? How are we any worse off? If he had stayed fit we would of had more options but as was said at the time we can't lose.

Do you even know what the injury was or the impact?

Haven't got a clue and really couldn't give a flying about a nomark like Walton, unless we end up paying him money we don't have to sit on our treatment table.
Plymouth fans are worried they might have to take him back.

Why, how much are we paying him Len?
