That account of things would suggest that the club have been more than generous with him. Good riddance. He's taken the big pay day instead of honouring those that stood by him - that's his prerogative.

He would have been a lane legend and revered for a long time to come but he has probably lost that status now. Time to move on........

Very little left to say.

Cheers for the years of service ending with quick and bitter betrayal Paddy.

Hope you're failure in the capital.

I usually have no problem with players getting the best deal they can, especially seeing when they're getting on, but the way SUFC stood by him, and the way the crowd reacted to him on his return totally overshadows any good memories I had.

A complete & utter tw@t. Turning his back on the club and fans who stood by him for a few extra quid. Hope he enjoys playing in front of 12,000 every week.

Leave him to it. He wont be staying up tonight thinking about United so dont wind yourselves up over him. Its quite apparent his conscience isnt affected by it and thats up to him.

Yes its disappointing that he isnt repaying what the club did for him but it doesnt surprise me. He's a footballer. They're all the same. Say "morals" to them and they hear "money" - its like a hearing impedement they have.

Good post - it's time to move on and find another keeper - let's hope we get someone (hopefully Simonsen) in quickly.

How many of our players would have turned down the chance to join QPR for what is likely to be a lot more money?

And like I said above, this is not the same situation.

We could have easily sacked him and left him without a wage for a year of his career, but we didn't.

Then there's the way the crowd received him after he'd dropped a massive bollock and contributed to our shit season.

That's not the point people are making bergen, the money bit normally is understandable, it's the backstabbing , after he openly aknowledge that SUFC saved his career & stood by him when others wouldn't. So he takes SUFC's money for doing nowt, an then leaves almost imediately.
I posted on the BBC 606 QPR site my dissapointment, not in a derogatory way but, explaining why he will not get the warm welcome he should have been due to at BDTBL, but the moderators removed it saying I had broken some rule or other.

Kenny admits the decision to leave Bramall Lane was a tough one, but is excited about the prospect of working with Warnock, whom he clearly rates highly as a Manager.

"It was a difficult decision to leave, but with the year I've had I felt it was the right time to move on," he told

That year must have been made a hell of a lot easier by a regular pay cheque and the support of SUFC staff and fanbase.

Cheers Patrick.

Nice to see you can be greedy in more than one way,Paddy- because it's normally in a Halifax curry house.

Don't expect a round of applause when you come back.

And thats the problem Lou. We all thought a hell of a lot of Paddy, from Fans up to the Board by all accounts why? Because we thought that his words on his comeback actually meant something.

Whilst its a cliche and it doesn't surprise me, I don't think you can throw a blanket over footballers when you look at the likes of Morgs, Monty and now Cresswell who've shown loyalty. Cresswell stated that he re-signed because Monty and Morgs had done. Good lad. I'd imagine that there are one or two players in the squad that aren't happy with Paddy.

The irony is that Cresswell has just signed a new deal and there were many that disliked him because he played for the pigs!

Last thing to say on Paddy - I wish you all the best in following your dream. I hope its the break and new start that you needed following your long lay off. It must have been so hard for you, i'm sure you felt alone and unwanted when the club gave you a new contract. I wish you no harm. Good luck to you!

Us Blades understand that some players leave our club, we're not the biggest club in the world, we have our faults, but then so do you. However, don't expect the kind of reception that you received from Blades in the past. Don't expect a single hand shake from anyone in the club. Don't expect a warm reception and applause that so many former Blades players have received in the past when returning to the lane. Unfortunately the many great memories I have of you as a Player and an Honourary Blade are all but distant memories. You'll no longer be considered a Blade. Well done Son!

Did we really give him 6k (or whatever) a week for doing nothing, to be nice with him? £312,000 of Blades fans' money went to help Paddy Kenny keep up his luxurious life style for his year off? Or did we give him that contract because we knew that if we didn't, he'd leave without us getting anything for him?

I doubt it was paid as a Salary payment... I seem to remember reading that as part of the ban he wasn't allowed to be paid as a footballer because he was banned.... something that the FA are now looking into as we've also paid Jordan Stewart for a season as a "footballer"

Perhaps paddy was paid to do the weeding at McCabe's mansion

I hope he rots there, feel dirty for chanting his name against Swansea.

Makes u wonder why we bother!

We shouldn't pretend that the club standing by him was a pure act of loyalty. They knew they stood to lose a £1m asset, and sought to minimise the loss. That said, they did look after Paddy when he mightn't have expected them to, so I don't blame them for expecting more from him in return.

I'd like to know how much more money Paddy is on at QPR than he was offered here. Everyone has their price, but some are cheaper than others...

:(

Of course we got something back for keeping him on a contract. That doesn't disguise the fact that he said:

"I owe the club my career because you don't know what could have happened," Kenny told BBC Sport.

"Another club might not have gone the same route. But everybody has stood by me and I can't repay them enough.

"But I got a phone call from the chairman [Kevin McCabe] and he said 'don't worry, I'll stand by you,' and he has done.

"It made me realise I still had a future in the game and it made me determined to come back better than ever."

Or was that bullshit?

And then the reaction from the supporters on his first team return was as close to adoration as it gets.

Sorry Bergen, but he's been a disloyal, two faced twat at the end of the day, and the fact that we're getting net 400k from this deal, doesn't disguise the fact that if it wasn't for the 750k release clause, we'd have got a hell of a lot more.

I cant say I am surprised in all honesty. At the end of the day money talks. I feel let down though. Have a nice time down south Paddy.

I'm sure we did. We still made 400k out of the deal and hence that is why the clause was out in. We didn;t want him to go on a free and we didn't want to pay him much money whilst he was banned. People will know from life that it is very difficult to get the best of both worlds and the consequence of United wanting this was the contract clause. So basically United shot themselves in the foot. This takes nothing away from Paddy kenny being a complete cunt mind.

Fuck him - typical greedy bastard. I've said before, they're all motivated by nothing more than money - and contrary to opinion not all of us are, with far less behind us. This one particularly stinks given what he, as he recently acknowledged himself, owes the club. When treated like heroes during their stay, based in reality on nothing more than them doing it for money, it's fair enough for them to be treated like villains when the reality that you were just the largest pay cheque on offer becomes apparent.

I hope he's a flop for QPR, and 8 years of good service will be remembered, by me, for his ultimate act of greed and failure to feel one ounce of gratitude to the club that stood by his numerous acts of indiscipline.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I agree, Paddy is quite rightly taking the flak but United are successully deflecting attention away from the stupid release clause that allowed him to betray and short-change us. If we don't get Simonsen now it will be a total disaster (and I can't help feeling we would have announced his signing today, if it was going to happen). How many other ticking time-bomb clauses has the club agreed to that won't be made public until they blow up in our face?

I am disgusted with Paddy the backstabber but even more disgusted with our lawyers. Why was there a £750,000 trigger clause? Paddy was hardly in a position to bargain. Plus Spurs could rec all Walker but we couldnt recall Sharp. As a lawyer myself i say what a disgrace sack em McCabe and get a decent firm in. Make sure future contracts are water tight so we can say no as other clubs do.

I attached no blame to the club at all with my post.

Paddy was in a position to negotiate.

He was no doubt aware that that there would be interest from other clubs when his contract ran out in the summer. I wouldn't even be surprised if his agent had talked numbers with him before he signed his new contract at the Lane.

So as I have said before, we were over a barrell with his agent pointing a gun.

Either "agree the release clause or he walks in the summer for nothing"

You are negotiating on behalf of United, what is YOUR response?
