Complete & total wa*nke*.

I hope he gets a career ending injury at QPR after stabbing us in the back.

Warnocks role in this should not be forgotten however.

Paddy was in a position to negotiate.

He was no doubt aware that that there would be interest from other clubs when his contract ran out in the summer. I wouldn't even be surprised if his agent had talked numbers with him before he signed his new contract at the Lane.

So as I have said before, we were over a barrell with his agent pointing a gun.

Either "agree the release clause or he walks in the summer for nothing"

You are negotiating on behalf of United, what is YOUR response?

Excellent post. It's just the same with Walker. Spurs say - "you can only have him if we have the right to recall him" - what should we do? If we'd turned down the deal based on that and it had been made public, it would have been met with derision. I don't thinlk some fans think these things trhrough enough.

In retrospect and with all due consideration:

"Bite my shiny metal ass!"

Thanks.

Unfortunately it's the same with every player.

All a club can do is make a judgement on how far it is prepared to pushed before it folds its cards.

The club have far more information on ALL the relevant factors than the fans.

It's very frustrating but as fans there is nothing we can do about it other than hope that our club plays it's cards right, and even then we can still get caught out through factors outside of our control just because of the immense number of variable factors affecting every result.

That's what makes the game so interesting at the end of the day.

I have no problem with sensible debate on any topic but there is no point in getting worked up about things we can't influence.

It's the child like tantrums and entrenched views of posters on here that wind me up far more than our club officials failure in their honset endeavours to deliver the success we all want.

Oh and the complete lack of respect and dignity of some posters too.

Plus Spurs could rec all Walker but we couldnt recall Sharp. As a lawyer myself i say what a disgrace sack em McCabe and get a decent firm in. Make sure future contracts are water tight so we can say no as other clubs do.

We agreed for Billy to go without a recall clause because this meant that Donny would pay his full wages. It wasn't a mistake, it was chosen purposefully.

People often forget there are two sides to any negociation and we are never going to have someone in a position that they can't bargain.

Most interesting thing for me is that Birch says he'll be finding the replacement keeper. Fits with the rumours of Blackwell being pushed out.

My response would be along the lines that I'm not stupid enough to believe that you're stupid enough to advise your client to reject a contract entirely when he has no idea whether he'll be ready to play after a 9 month layoff, and no idea whether he'll be able to get decent money in the close season, so stop this bluster and let's talk numbers.

Kenny was always going to sign with us at that time because of the risks that were there for him if he didn't.

I agree, Paddy is quite rightly taking the flak but United are successully deflecting attention away from the stupid release clause that allowed him to betray and short-change us. If we don't get Simonsen now it will be a total disaster (and I can't help feeling we would have announced his signing today, if it was going to happen). How many other ticking time-bomb clauses has the club agreed to that won't be made public until they blow up in our face?
He would of left for nothing without the clause, he contract would of been up already.
Why was there a clause? Because he wouldn't sign a contract on reduced terms without it.

I can't see how the club can be blamed for this one, apart from if fans are saying we should of just sacked him which is probably right with hindsight but I don't think any of us would of done it at the time.

If paddy is not solely to blame for engineering this move, Im curious as to how QPR/Warnock found out the magic number to bid?

It's almost as if the two have been in very regular contact for a number of years

I wouldn't be at all surprised if our Neil hadn't given him assurances that he'd never be completely out of football whilstever he was in management.

Give over. We had him over a barrel.
If the clause wasn't so stupid, why do think the club were desperately trying to see if it was watertight?

at least we got a fee for him so in some way he's probably paid back most of the wages he's had.shame he has gone buy he won't last long they don't do gravy down south.
think warnocks as much to blame he should leave united well alone when it comes to transfers him being a blade an all

Yes I'm sure you are right, he would of had no options come the summer as no one ever takes a chance on the chance to get fallen players on a free and he would of had to come crawling back to us.

I could do with you to talk to my roses for a bit, I'm sure it would do them the world of good.

So you knew for certain that neither Paddy nor his agent had been in touch with QPR?

Agents says " sorry you feel like that but we are willing to take our chances"

YOUR next move?

Sorry, which bit of the club realising they'd dropped a bollock with the clause did you not understand?

They didn't drop a bollock, simple as that. They did what they had to and when Paddy tried to screw us over (despite us offering him a new deal) they tried to see if it was watertight. That's just common sense.

Disappointed with him to be honest, I fully understand players going for better money after all is said and done though the club and fans showed faith in him when we could have just washed our hands of the situation and let him rot for a year. The clause can't be helped as people have said it would be the only way he would have signed a contract on a lower wage, but it all sort of cries out that its another bit of agent monoplising the game again.

Thanks for the 8 years service but no thanks for the short memory you have as soon as a bit more extra green is flashed in front of your eyes, I wonder what the reaction will be next year? I'd prefer a complete silence or a show of backs from the Kop as he approaches simple but probably very effective.
