Looks like theyve found another decent 16 year old as well.
Remember that game Superboy at the Lane17/4/71
Hodgy was my all time Blades hero. I had goalkeeping aspirations as a young 'un. So I diligently studied all his positioning, reflex, anticipation and handling skills for years. The only quality I ended up nearly sharing with him was his height- and even then I was half an inch short!Pleased to say I share one of Hodgy’s qualities- failure to keep programme collection tidy!
Evokes many memories and thanks for sharing. I lived on Alderson Place some of those pictures are very close to my street. Not particularly old photos, certainly from my perspective, but no longer there. March 1997.

Barry Manilow?
Barry Manilow?
Made me laugh, because when I was younger I was once persuaded to have a "demi-wave".Jasper Carrott ?
Looks like you and me led parallel lives as Blades fans and budding Hodgys. Except I grew to 6 foot tall. Still didn't help me deal with crosses, mind...Hodgy was my all time Blades hero. My actual all time goalkeeper hero ever was Lev Yashin. There again, my only brush with similarity there was a black roll neck sweater. At least I felt like I looked the business. I've just found out he was 6ft 2". So you weren't far of him either...
I can't look at photos like that without focussing on the scoreboard in the distance, Red A, and thinking 'Come on, put up that score, 1-0'. Happy days, simple pleasures...
Sheffield Wednesday F.C. were not formed until 1929 . Has a pig coloured in the original black and white photo,if it seems they have always been liars and brainwashers of their little piglets.Steel City derby at Olive Grove in 1896 (not sure if year is correct)

Let's have less of that modern malarkey, Steel City Derby, this is the old fogies thread. It was, and still is the Sheffield Derby.Steel City derby at Olive Grove in 1896 (not sure if year is correct)

They were called The Wednesday until 1929. I have seen a different photo of Olive Grove in Keith Farnsworth that had Sheffield Wednesday FC painted on that roof. Not seen an explanation on this.Silent Blade if that report is correct just when did The Wednesday F.C. become Sheffield Wednesday?
Are the pedestals adjustable and what kind of distance generally between sub floor and FF?
Your hero got peed onLooks like Johnny Haynes and Harold Sheperdson and a bunch of foreigners.
Great photos these, the last one especially. I sometimes pop down there for an hours fishing. The cobbles in the foreground have gone, replaced by a wooden bridge and walkway but everything else looks the same.
