It’s bit late the day to be looking at blame for this. Different countries will have to develop their responses based on knowledge, understanding and resources. The response in 3rd world and developing countries will be different, even between western countries like UK and USA, standards and responses will differ.
The UK solution is tailored to our needs and available resources. Africa, Europe, Asia and North America are all in different scenarios based on what I describe above.
The virus could yet mutate and cause further problems. No one knows for definite what will work best, but the different regimes and different options will have different results.
It’s possible that most of Europe and UK could be virus free by 1 October 2020. What if people in Italy and Spain are still infected and dying.
The challenge today, is to eradicate the virus in UK first, then plan limited reintroduction for sports and entertainment events.
Maybe the English leagues can play out the rest of the season, but Euro club competitions could still be under sanction.
These are the most likely scenarios with the current UK system, disease peaking in 10 - 14 weeks, with another 12 weeks to eradicate it. The UK will probably be able to resume activity in October this year. That’s the best you can hope for.
Others can resume when the battle is over depending on their response.
This is simple guesswork based on current facts, knowledge and understanding by me. Take it or leave it.
