That’s exactly how it was when I started going. I even zoomed in to see ‘fowls’ written on the wall. In my mind, the Lane still looks like that.Thank you for the encouragement Bert . Here we go then...View attachment 73702View attachment 73703
I don't believe so, memory says it was the level where the cricketers took to the field. I have an image, looking out of the windows seeing the whole of BDTBL's playing surface, if that helps. ECL has a more informed knowledge than myself as my attendance was only the one occasion. On reflection I regret not going in more often. The place reeked of historical sporting figures, recon if they were listed it would be longer than both arms. That's summot to do naw't footies off for awhile. Thanks for this, it was in the old cricket pavilion I remember - was it upstairs?
Excellent historical photos, THANK YOU for sharing your own work, as you'll soon realise there are many on this site who appreciate it greatly.I haven't got a "fowls" on the wall, but I took this at at the same time....View attachment 73717

I feel almost peevish requesting, would it be possible to furnish a little info on the photos, e.g. dates or unusual tales associated. THANK YOU in advance.

How come your socks and Joe's look different?Me, Joe and Peter Thompson
At the end of our game we waited on the John Street terrace for the fella to put up the scores over on the cricket pitch side. The ground was quiet and emptying as we watched the said fella approach the Wednesday score for what would be the last time. We wondered what he was doing until we worked out he was trying to tell us it was Boro 8 pigs 0 by showing us a number 6 and a number 2. He couldn't find a number 8 as such a score hardly ever occurred. A big cheer went up from those left behind Oh how we laughed on the way out.The day Boro beat Wendy 8-0

Was QPR our last match of the season, and we drew 1-1 ?I remember this too I was in the BLUT
Last home game. Yes, 1-1Was QPR our last match of the season, and we drew 1-1 ?
Ah thanks. Our last home game then.Last home game. Yes, 1-1
Last game was a 1-0 win at Ipswich. My Wendy supporting uncle took me to S6 to see Wendy beat Bolton 1-0 that day
Joe has just turned socks over once, hence you can see top of the socks almost at his ankle, where as Bernard has tuned over several times hiding the two hoops. Believe it was an age thing older player showed hoops young'uns wanted plain soxs.Think Joe’s got tapes around his shin pads, otherwise no idea, Hodgy..
I don’t remember doing that......Joe has just tuned sock over once, hence you can see top of the socks almost at his ankle, where as Bernard has tuned over several times hiding the two hoops.
I don't remember doing lots of things, sometimes it's embarrassing other times I really wish I had, bugger, with the memory enhancing myself esteem. Win some loose someI don’t remember doing that......
