I don't see a problem here. A 6 week hiatus, followed by 2 matches per week, ends the season at the end of May.

This is only 4 weeks later than planned. So we might have a shorter than usual preseason. Who cares, start next season a couple of weeks later if need be. Kill the Nations League and/or Carabao Cup for a season. Koack that shitty winter break that nobody wanted on the head.
you are anticipating it will resume on 4 April, the virus here in the uk will not peak for a few weeks yet, so it’s ihighly unlikely that it will start up again in April or may

Could suspend the season for 4-8 weeks and still have plenty if time before next pre-season starts. Cancelling the season would be incredibly disappointing, but then again it could all get very much worse.

Tells it how it is? What on earth does that mean?

Experts on pandemics, economics and impact on society "tell it how it is". This is akin to Farage going on the BBC the other night and giving his view on CV. They don't have the faintest clue on the best course forward.

And again, how does the season go on when players are going to be dropping with the virus left, right and centre as it works its way further into the UK.

Sounds like you‘re using your personal judgment to cloud your thinking.,..l don’t like Jordan but keep an open mind and don’t pre judge what he says,
The facts are Jordan is a former football Chairman, so will know far more than me or you about running a club and football administration.
He tells it how it is regards his experiences in football...he’s not politically correct and unlike some other radio presenters doesn’t say things to gain friends or admirers.

Jordan’s point was that the government are seeking advise from the best experts in the field. Surely their opinion is more valid than a newspaper?
but in this day and age the general public take more notice of sensationalist headlines from a newspaper thinking it’s gospel.
Its scary how society can be controlled so easily by the media, and gossip on Facebook and Twitter.

Agree once players are being affected then the competition can’t continue.....the problem is that there’s always likely to be 1 or 2 players infected over the next few months. In the past matches have only been cancelled when half the team have flu....however when it’s been 1 or 2 players the matches have been played,

Moreover, those teams still involved in multiple competitions expected to play what, 3? 4? games a week?

At this moment in time I'm more concerned about the danger to my elderly loved ones (who are all unfortunately stubborn as fuck) than I am to the danger of our FA Cup run and season being called off. Football will be played again one day, Wilder will still be our manager and we'll all be raring to go.

I'm reccomending a 6 week hiatus which takes us through to the end of April (this wasn't clear in my message, I hadn;t actually seen the 4th of April date when I posted).

I agree, 4th of April seems very, very optimistic.

The virus won't peak for at least 6 to 8 weeks . It s pathetic postponing it for 2 weeks . Might as well postpone it till May .

Sheer panic. We will all be bored shitless in 4 weeks and will it contain the virus. Very much doubt it as we will be forced into close contact with older family members.
Logic now dictates all supermarkets and shopping centres close too as there is no difference in numbers from a 20k football crowd and a populated Meadowhall or any large supermarket.

And what's going to happen when Arsenal, for example, have self-isolated for a couple of weeks over Arteta then come back and another player then gets it a day later. And then another 14 days after that someone else gets it.
We're currently in the panic stage but will hopefully move past it.

Imagine being someone where the only thing stopping you from being bored is the football.

Sadly the season is over in my opinion.
The authorities expect new infections to peak in June, so it should follow that footballers will still be getting infected in June so how can the league resume?
Also with all the legal issues surrounding promotion and relegation I cant see any option other than declaring the season null and void and starting again in August.
The only issue that leaves is the distribution of prize money which could be shared based on league position or split evenly.
Bad for us but worse for Liverpool.

Why do people assume that every cautious measure taken is due to newspaper sensationalism? Have UEFA and the PL come out and said that they are suspending the league because of newspaper headlines?

I don't think the virus has been overhyped to be honest; mind you, I don't read the likes of the Sun and the Mail etc, so have no clue what they're saying. It's the biggest event in my lifetime (I'm 40) and I think too many people are underestimating it. This based on multiple experts and accounts from people within the NHS etc.

In terms of today's announcement, I agree, there's likely to be one or two players infected over the next few months. And that's the issue. When these players are sharing showers and changing rooms etc, there's going to be transmission. As this mainly happens prior to any symptoms showing, it's unfeasible how any club will be able to play.

Our game in hand could be the difference between Europa League and Champions League next season. They should at least play games in hand, behind closed doors if necessary

Wait till that Brexit thingy kicks in.

And Leeds!

Alternatively how about getting all 20 PL managers to have a virtual FIFA tournament to decide the season?

Hopefully most players will be infected over the next few months.
We need to move away from the idea that getting it is the end of the world and focus more on vulnerable people not getting it.

Simon Jordan has just been on Talksport expressing his concerns about sensationalist media reporting, miss information and scare mongerimg.

He said the medical experts advising the government have already said stopping football will have little effect on controlling the spread...the spread is a happening regardless. He also said the reports in the paper are “Arteta has the virus”, but the chances of a healthy 39 year dying from flu is ZERO.

Jordan said he was uncomfortable how the PL were bowing to media pressure instead of using expert medical opinion.
However he acknowledged that media pressure/ public opinion is very powerful....so they now have no choice to close down the league
but it is an example of how the media can manipulate the truth and control the country.

Its not zero , its 1% the flu is 0.1 %

Also how can they postpone the season , the peak is not supposed to be till 3 months even then they'll be a few months after you would think.

Could actually see them cancelling this season. we are nowhere near the peak of the Virus.

Where would they fit in the football left if the virus isnt over till september ?

They'd be no other option to cancel it
