Pure Class!

Probably the most underrated/ least discussed player in our 1st team. But i absolutely love this fella.

It also pretty much went unnoticed that he was captain against Reading as Billy and Norwood weren't playing.

Yeah he has and i couldn't think of a better captain to lead us once Billy and Norwood take a step back

Completely agree mate. Then you look at the rest of the line up... Basham was third captain, O'Connell has worn the armband, Enda too. Then there's the likes of Fleck and Henderson who are also constantly organising, and modelling leadership. We're really fortunate.

I like sitting near the pitch so you can hear whaqt the players say to each other.

They all have high standards and hold each other to them. Anyone messing up. arriving late, playing a poor pass, etc gets told to buck up.

Baldock even told the crowd off for being too slow getting the ball back to him for a throw in!

He's immense, as is OConnel. Wouldn't swap either of them for any other CB in the league. Much of The contrast in ours and Norwich's fortunes this season can be attributed to us coming up with Premier League quality centre backs.

In an era when defenders are being asked to do everything but defend, I love the fact that Egan is a defender who loves defending.

If there’s one slight criticism of him it’s that we are at times opened up by hopeful punts upfield in his direction – happened again yesterday where he slightly misjudged it and Norwich didn’t take the chance. There seems to be one instance every other game – sort of like Norwood giving the ball away at the halfway line causing a break, these seem to be noticeable especially because both players are otherwise extremely tidy.

That aside though, another excellent performance from him yesterday. He’s comfortably at home in this league.

The chat I had yesterday with my Wednesday supporting mate highlighted the contrast.

Disruptive influences there like Bannan, Hutchinson, Forestieri are as big a cause of their demise as the players in our squad which are huge contributors to our success

The problem that clubs with big managerial turnover face is that each brings in their own favourites and then they get left behind...

Wilder brought in players of character, but also retained players of the same... and of course weeded out there ones that didn’t want to play for the club, just wanted pay cheques

How quickly was Duffy moved on? Not because he’s a disruptive character, but because he broke the golden rule of “don’t ask us, we’ll tell you when we’re ready to negotiate a new deal”

It’s crucial that the players are all on the same wave length and issues are resolved quickly.

Similarly when Bashambauer and Fleck give thé ball away it's very noticeable because of ther high standards

Bash looked immense. Taken to the Premier league seamlessly. What an engine on him as well !

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, it was 1st half and he let Pukki get in front of him? The brief worry was that Pukki isn’t that quick, but on balance, John Egan gives us little cause for concern. He’s improved a bit since his Walsall debut a few years ago.
