Presuming the Man City European ban holds firm, and that a top 7 team wins the FA Cup, what points tally do you predict is required to finish 8th?
And do you think we can really do it? I'm going to say 55 points as my prediction to get 8th spot, and that Norwich is a must win for us to manage it.

we need to match or better the teams below us by points and GD with a game in hand on most, completely doable when we look at it like that

Still amazes me how our fans can always see other sides being capable of achieving but can always find the blades can only ever come up just short.
No point dissing pundits when it's how our some of our fans see us.
We will be close . But we will fail.

A reet can do attitude....thats can do crap

Where has anyone said that then?

Change the record, it’s getting boring reading about our fans being rubbish all the time.

It’s the “in other words” bit that is funny. That’s the voices in your head rather than reality.

Stop shouting.

8th? I'm still looking at catching the foxes or 4th but be a little disappointed with 4th.
Can we still over take Man City and not need their ban 😂

You're talking nonsense and putting words into people's mouths. I agree that Norwich isn't a 'must win' however nobody has said that we can't win the other games at home you have just supposed this, it's just you getting all high and mighty and banging the same drum as always.

Dull.

We are all different. As a 'Blade too long', you should at least appreciate that anyone who has watched United week-in, week-out over many years needs to prepare for the possibility of failure. It doesn't mean 'we're doomed', it just helps people cope rather than walk away in frustration at a disappointment. And it makes the good moments feel even better. That is not the same as 'preparing to fail'. And in my view, it is better that the sense of entitlement which we complain about in other sets of fans.
I hope that helps you understand why many of us want us to succeed, enjoy success, but prepare for the possibility that we might fail. And barring the highly unlikely outcome of relegation this season (still mathematically a possibility), this season will have been a success whatever; qualifying for Europe would be a hugely enjoyable bonus.

thanks for confirming exactly my point in that sentence
we sound like Orville the puppet
I wish I could fly ,but I cant

there is a possibility we can fail and dont we know it, we can only ever see that

no why should we have the mind set little old sheffield united
we try but we always fall short

well fuck it Ill be devastated if we finish lower than 5th

I dont give 2 flying fucks about don givens penalty
or 7 play off let downs

Wilder wasnt in charge then

we didnt have Henderson , or Egan

Lets just try and think just that tiny bit that we can dream of for once it goes for us

instead of this 50 year durge about being sub standard

Fuck 8th, 4th place and win the Cup!
Before a ball was kicked this season I believed and stated so,that we could flirt with the top 6.
My optimism stemmed from Wilder who continually confounds expectation,he’s a mould breaker and we are no longer the United I have grown up with,we are a different beast we are winners with a chairmen that backs a winning
manager.Only Chelsea have a better chance of top 4 than us and that’s a fact.
The F.A cup I would love to win, that’s 2 chances of champions league football next year.
Let yourselves dream blades,if we fall short so what there’s always next year.
Even Thankgivens day could’nt stop me dreaming.

Im not seeing points tally predictions for 8th! We might do better than 8th, but what do we think is needed for 8th?

Is that cos we is Massive now? We is too big and famous to be like little clubs?

No mate - we're Blades and we're rooted. We know that all football clubs are only as good as their results - and we know that our results are flying in the face of how 99% of people understand what's possible in football.

God knows it feels great - bit the last thing I want to see is us Blades become self entitled big time Charlies. We're not Leeds, Forest or the Wendy Massive - and long may we stay grounded.

no its called enjoying the moment
I dont claim anywhere we are bigger than anyone

All I want is our fans to believe its a possibility, instead of the constant we will fail ingrained mindset

is it to much to ask

why go on the defensive and accuse us of being arrogant

its not arrogant to want to have a modicum of success

but if you must wallow in failure , knock yourself out

what is the point in going if we cant enjoy the good times
I know its been good ,but lets stop now we dont want to be get better do we attitude has to end
if its a problem with our roots about time we got some Round Up

Ask Wilder by email to stop collecting these points as its very disturbing to some, we might achieve something which will change us
visit wolves fan zones see if they are rooting for failure rather risk being a bit arrogant

Could I ask you politely to read my post again, carefully, and tell me which bits sound like a dirge? I said that I fully expect to be celebrating this season as a success - that is not mournful. You say that you'll 'be devastated if we finish lower than 5th'. Of course we can dream. Occasionally, as with Leicester, a dream comes true. But in my view it is best to enjoy football game-by-game - this season has been so enjoyable, that it would be a pity to be devastated if we finish 6th. We could then move on to further progress next season.

Could you give us a few examples of posts on here which say that we don't want United to improve or that we don't want United to win. If they exist, I have not seen them, and at most they would be the views of a minute number of Blades. It is as if you have seen a gap in the market now that Pinchy no longer posts on here (I hope he is ok), and are using the ploy of making up things that nobody has ever said, and disagreeing with them.

Old school poster, top marks!
I have always enjoyed discussions and hated arguments. The black-and-White film archives suggest that old football was rubbish, but one good thing that has been lost is the possibility of watching games with opposition supporters (as they were then); a bit of politeness generally meant that the discussions were lively and funny, and helped prevent them becoming arguments. Ah, the good old days...

I'd literally get more answers to my actual question on the Facebook weareutd page. Sad times.

In this post you talk about enjoying the moment but in your previous one you say you’ll be devastated if we don’t make Europe.
That doesn’t sound like enjoying the moment to me.

I’m loving this season and if we get to Europe, it’s a massive bonus. If we don’t, it’s still been a great season. I’ll be a little disappointed but that’s it. The future is still bright.

In this scenario, would 8th qualify for Europe or not?
