Sign Dean Henderson

We can’t sign him, as good as he is. It would be careless to blow our whole budget on a goalkeeper when you can get similar level keepers (at the minute, though I think Henderson is on his way to the very top) for under 10mil.

If we can loan Hendo again, great. If we can’t then thanks for the past 2 years and hopefully we meet again.

Which keepers are as good as Henderson but available for under 10 million?

Exactly, nothing worse than seeing a player saying how much they love the club, fans and how much they want to stay before suddenly fucking off to another club.

Thing is, if he wants the Man U gig then to get it he has to be one of the best players at the Lane.

Win win win for us until he goes.

First of all the comments about honesty and wanting to go to Manure are spot on. It's what he has always said.

He will be a minimum of £30 million but I suspect that is not the problem. He will also be wanting a massive pay rise. And that will be the sticking point with Wilder.

I reckon we can get a top quality keeper for that sort of money. Dubravka - already an international when Newcastle bought him was £6 million.

I wonder if the thought of European football here and missing out if he goes back to Manure will have a bearing on any decisions? Maybe a euro medal, England caps whilst a Blade and make a huge earner when Barcelona come in with a £100 mil? Too much?

He won't go back just to sit on the bench, which he's 99% likely to do while De Gea is still there

Man U also likely wont sell up unless a crazy offer a la 80m for Kepa comes in

Returning back to us on loan for another season currently looks like the best option for all involved parties and you never know, the longer it goes on perhaps the more likely Dean decides his future may lie elsewhere

I respect his commitment to fulfilling his dream though, he is certainly good enough

Shall we ask him first?🤔

This exactly, wages, wages, wages. The showstopper.

Let them spend, spend, spend on ridiculous players wages, other clubs that is, not us. We don’t have that sort of business model that allows us to compete on wages with the big 6 Prem clubs.

They make so much money from TV and off the field activities that it wouldn’t matter if the fans never turned up to a game again. I hope we will never be in that situation.

I don’t blame Hendo one bit for wanting to achieve that with Manchester United. Their track record of success is a little bit better than ours 😶 and I know which club I’d be looking to invest my future in as a young up and coming player if I was in that situation,

The thing for us fans to remember is that nothing is forever. And the difference between top keepers fetching £80m or more and those costing a fraction of that price is really not so great. Henderson is good, but no one is worth busting our wage structure for. We will find his replacement when he goes, no problem.

£20m buy out option for us, it was read out in a court of law FFS. Is it just me this? Also we are paying 100% of his wages on his current loan deal.

Maybe i'm not in Kansas anymore.

calm down there Batman i thought i heard macabe say a deal was in place for Hendo as permanent as well also too

We could afford his initial transfer, but we couldnt his £75,000 a week salary, so it's a no go, I'd be happy to get him on loan again though.

Deano is a must he is such a key surely we will try on a perm

If hendo doesn't come back next season, it wont be the end of the world.

I can think of several keepers I'd happily see between the sticks.

Ramsdale - not a finished article, and not quite as good as Henderson (Yet) but massive potential. Future England keeper.

Butland - Massively gone off the boil in recent years, but tipped to be one of the better keepers england have produced, worth a bid of 7 - 10 million (last year of contract)

Was also going to recommend Lafont but it seems he's been snapped up on a Loan with option to buy with a buy back from Fiorentina.

Mate you cant sign a player that doesn't want to come , he has always told the truth and he wants to play for Manure , so expect one day to be seeing him running out returning to the Lane playing for them , i would imagine he would get an excellent reception though 👏

But what if we are in Europe next season and Manure aren't?

Think our fans are losing touch on reality.

The media are all saying Henderson is a future England number 1.....and will become a Man United regular for years.
Henderson could be one of the worlds best goalies in 8 years time....when he’s 30.

I reckon a fair valuation for Henderson is 30 million but Man Utd don’t need the money.
To a club like Man Utd they’d probably want 50 million and Henderson would be wanting 150K a week. Chelsea might be keen.
Also bare in mind that Henderson supports Man Utd and from being a boy has dreamt about playing for Man Utd.

Now does anyone think we stand any chance of signing him?
A loan deal next season is our best hope but I reckon Man Utd will try to demand an astronomically high loan fee.

As I mentioned on another thread, in the event of us qualifying for Europe at the expense of the mancs then I just can't see them loaning him out to us again. I can imagine him staying at OT and Degea demanding a transfer.
The only scenario we may keep him is if DH demands to stay himself.

I think we will focus our big summer spending on strikers. Or one absolute class striker. A fox in the box type.

Renew Henderson’s loan. I think that works for all parties. Perm keeper sorted the summer after.

The irony is, and this is a sentence that I didn't think I'd type any time soon...

If he stays at Man United, it's more of a gamble, he's stepping into the unknown of an unsettled side, a club in disarray with no clear blueprint in terms of recruitment or playing style - other than 'throw money at it'. Sheffield United is a more stable place to be.

Agree. Even if they get rid of OGS and replace with a world class manager like Ancelotti; Guardiola etc it will take a few transfer windows to sort out the mess that is the playing squad at Man U - so realistically going to be below par for 1-2 more years.

Keep saying it, both Juventus and Bayern Munich are still looking at him, will be a bidding war in the summer for him between those 2 clubs at least. We wont be retaining him as the wages on offer from the super clubs is something we cant match. He’s going abroad.

This time last year possibly, because there was a chance of him going cheap/on a free.

Bayern Munich have Neuer on their books until 2021, they've just signed 23 yr old Alexander Nubel, who is basically german national no. 1 in waiting, for next season on a free to be his long term replacement, and they've also got 20 yr old Christian Früchtl and 20 yr old Ron-Thorben Hoffman on their books as well, both of whom are german youth internationals. I'd be truly amazed if they were go out and pay big money for Henderson.

Juve? They only bought Perin in 2018 for £15m, they've got Szczęsny as no. 1 and they'd be more likely to go for Areola in the summer if they wanted a change. They've also earmarked Pep as Sarri's replacement, as well as other more pressing areas to spend money on in the summer.

Dubravka the best shot stopper for me.

Not taking away from another terrific season for Henderson, and he’s made some outstanding saves, I just think Dubravka is put under way more pressure and so often finds a way to keep the ball out of the net somehow. Henderson’s shot stopping is as much a compliment to his concentration as we’re so good at getting bodies in the way and blocking shots before they get to Henderson.

He'd be the one i'd be happy to spend big money on should Henderson stay at Man Utd.
