CONFIRMED Panagiotis Retsos

Sounds like another top draw talent that will excell under Wilder.

Retsos is collectively sound and specialises in many attacking departments. He is effective in the air and would cause many teams problems aerially. At Olympiacos, the set-piece deliverer would often try to find him as they knew he would be a danger. Despite his young age, Retsos possesses a great deal of composure and calmness on the ball, whilst relying on his natural game-reading intelligence to get him through the match. Retsos is a level-headed player and does not show any aggression that could cause a major hindrance for his overall development in the game.

The fixtures slowing down a little after Bournemouth comes at the right time too. Chance to get the new lads acclimatised

This is everything a football forum post should be... Bravo my friend. 😍 ;)

Everyone is understandably raving about Berge but it sounds like Retsos could end up being a big upgrade on our current players too.
I suppose a German club paying 16 million for a teenage defender proves what a big talent he was just 2 years ago.
However he’s hardly played a single match in the last 12 months so will likely need several weeks to get up to speed.

While it may be considered heresy, we do need to start blooding a long term Bash replacement.
He’ll be 32 at the start of next season, and of all our roles the overlapping centre half will be the most difficult for a new young player to learn and develop into.

Fucking hell that's depressing. I don't disagree with what you say, but Basham may be obsolete soon and he's eight months younger than me.

Oh he'll need a "full pre-season" mate, no doubt about that! ;)

I really like the sound of this player's pedigree. Great age, experienced, been a Captain, talented enough for a side like Leverkusen to pay out £17m for his as a teenager fairly recently.

Really interested to see how this goes & how the deal is structured (purely a loan, loan with an option, loan with an obligation etc..).

It seems sensible to bring him in now for next season given his injury record. It gives us a lot of time to put some serious work into him prior to pre-season. I wouldn't expect to see too much of him this season.

What do you think the valuation is of him now? Probably halved?

Agree with this.....it’s a weird one because he’s not going to be doing much this season....the loan seems to be for us to look at him and him to look at us.
He still has massive potential......so could be worth a lot....but then again his career has stalled....he’s had an injury and hardly played in over a year.
Suspect we’d offer 7 to 10 million max with maybe some bonuses based on appearances. They might want 15 mill, most of their money back.

Gives him an additional 6 months to get fit and learn our system. I’m guessing if he doesn’t adapt then we won’t take up the option to buy on him and we’re not subject to as much risk.

Their lack of self-awareness about how desperate and bitter comments such as these make them look...

Meanwhile they're wanking themselves silly over Always Injured Connor Wickham signing.

What the idiots fail to grasp is that our transfers are scouted extensively, based on ability, attitude, mentality and potential. So yes we might be paying money for a young lad who has been injured, but he has years ahead of him to develop and improve further.

Where as the pigs happily shelled out 30k per week, in the league below, for the following players when they were all pushing 30, and have spent most of their time injured, or in some cases being extraordinarily crap for them..

Hutchinson, Hooper, Rhodes, Fletcher, Abdi, Boyd and my personal favourite...Emanuelson.

I can respect a roll of the dice or a calculated gamble. But they were all crap players before they ever signed for the Pigs. Literal stupidity. A glance at their stats on Wikipedia would have told the decision makers that. Generally not one for the so called business people telling a Manager what to do, but surely someone would have said "that Jordan lads a bit sh*t isn't he?!"
