I really wouldn't be upset if Clarke took the 5th choice spot as per the suggestion above - it's a role that'll get 5 or 10 minutes every other game so it isn't that important. If it means us bringing in others elsewhere then that's fine by me.
Unless Chris thinks he has a chance to get Eze, Bowen or Watkins a window early, then I'd rather we not bother with the 5rh choice striker, not for the sake of it. Given the circumstances is it really an issue if those minutes get shared between Freeman, Morrison and as you say, Clarke?

If a long term target has become free, then fine. Otherwise let's not be chasing someone afresh this week on a whim.

I think if Robinson goes, Clarke is kept to make up the squad numbers and as an emergency option, but isn’t say on the bench regularly if at all.

Nahki Wells.!!! ..wtf .....complete waste of money that would be for the game time ....pointless waste of resources as we would have to buy him outright ..

A big fat hairy no thanks

whats this strong opinion based on then?

wilder has been in for him before.
Highest conversion rate in the championship. out and out goal scorer with pace.
would cost 4-6m and fit into our wage budget.

We'll have a replacement lined up if this happens, surely? Unless Leon is back in the frame...

That's not a daft idea really

We was in for him in the Championship.....different kettle of marbles now ..

Why have another bit part player..that we don’t need at the minute ...I think it’s pointless ..but hey ho ...we are all different aren’t we ...

The article this morning from Peter O'Rourke said we'd be looking for a replacement, so if that's to be trusted then yes we will. Presumably a loan also.

Loan would have to be from abroad ....I’m lead to believe....happy to be corrected on this ....?

I would guess if he's off then West Brom must be paying all his wages in full, paid a decent loan fee + more than likely have an option to buy in the summer. I'd say theres a pretty good chance that if this is the case, we'll probably break even on him or maybe make a slight profit.

He was anonymous against Millwall to the point we might aswel have played with 10men. Clarke came on and set up two decent chances for Sharp in a 15minute cameo. I know its only against Millwall, but Clarke did far more than Robinson did when he came on, feel there is a role left for Clarke to play this season, he looked good v Millwall.

In slight defence of Robinson vs Millwall, he had a big part of the move for the first goal – controlling the punt forward by JOC, moving inside with the ball and hitting it up to Sharp, who played it to Besic. The issue wasn’t that he did nothing, but more that he didn’t do enough over the course of the game.

Why bother replacing him this January ....wait for the better deals in the summer ...

We only need six points to guarantee our position in he top flight for next year ..and Clarke ( on lot less wages ) ..can do the job that Robinson has done ..I.e bit player ..

The reason why Utd should strive to finish the season as high in the league as possible rather than settling for not being relegated is because of the prize money awarded - see the 'Merit Payment in the table below from last season. The difference between say 7th (Wolves) and 16th (Southampton) is ~£17m, enough for a good player in itself and ignoring the correlation between finishing position and facility fees i.e. how often they're shown on tv. I'm not even going to mention the prize of a UEFA League place....

Never mentioned anything about not striving to finish higher .....In the Robinson scenario he’s contributed next to nothing ..so doesn’t need replacing per set..at this moment in time with Clarke Morrison and Freeman currently on the books ..they can contribute as much as Robinson did ....
If we got a loan from abroad as something different all well and good and a no lose situ ...can’t seem any logic behind paying £6 mill and a long contract to the likes of a Nahki Wells etc ..to potentially finish a couple of spots higher this season ..that’s also making big assumption a last minute buy in January has a great affect anyway...

Looking mid to longer term ..we are in no mad rush to get a player to replace Robinson..simple as that really ..

If anyone ever needed convincing about the UK broadcast love-in with the Top 6, particularly Liverpool, they need only look at the second column...

More positively, using that table as a basis, finishing anywhere in the top half of the table is likely to net United:

£34m (share) + approx. £17m (facility) + approx. £20m (minimum for top 10 merit) + £43m (international tv) + £5m (central) = £119m
