I don't know how much store you can put by that comment really, he has to say that, he has to make sure that the door is open for a return and that when he returns the relationship player-manager and player-club is a good one. I think the reality is that he has a chance to prove himself under different circumstances, possibly with less pressure, and if he does he may get another chance to prove himself with us in the PL. No one can predict how it will turn out, all he can do is the best with the opportunity he's been given.

I think its a lack of belief in that he's had within himself that has been the issue. Some of the players have played like they know they belong and are good enough to perform in the PL (baldock, stevens, Fleck for example) where as Robinson always seemed to have that lack of belief that he belonged at that level when he was playing and seemed to almost play within himself at times for fear of getting things wrong and showing that he 'doesnt belong at that level, if that makes sense. Could all be bollocks as im no psychiatrist

Think if you listen to the way Wilder talks about the move in the actual interview, it’s a fairly genuine comment.

I'm sure it is genuine, but he can't say anything different really. He can hope that Callum has a useful time at WB and makes the grade and will be with us for years, but there's so much that can happen between now and then, including him not making the grade. Whatever he says now, if that is the case, if there is no longer a place for him, if another club makes an offer, he'll be gone.

Alan Nixon has just tweeted "next target a wide man" for WBA. He has a lot of detractors everywhere, but he had the Robinson deal first. Implies to me that WBA will be playing him as a striker. Also aligns with Akin's first post, which was clearly on the money.

I'm all for this. The first half of the season shows Robinson isn't quite there yet, for whatever reason. He was only going to sit on our bench for the rest of the season. Far better to be out there playing games. I don't think Wilder's written him off at all. I actually reckon he's hoping it's going to help him find/re-discover his mojo, which he's shown in the past and which we saw a bit of during pre-season.
Started yesterday at left wing in a 4-3-3, with Austin upfront.

Read the post match reviews on the West Brom forum.
Sounds like he was one of their best players yesterday.....they are impressed so far and hope he can keep it up.

The interesting thing is instead of playing up front....like he did for us.
West Brom played him in his old Preston position.....out on the left wing where he could cut in on his right foot.

Still get the impression that Wilder sees him as having a big future here....and definitely wants to keep him.

Hope he scores at the rust bucket on the 21st of March 😁 ... the day we turn over Man U at their place 👍

I thought he would have gone somewhere where he would have been played the way we want him to for us. If he's back in his old position if guess we just want his value back up to not make as much a loss.
