Trying to put 2 + 2 together and the fact CW says he should have a couple in Monday/Tuesday says he’s got his signings sorted, so it’s either a done deal now, or was never a realistic target in the first place

Incidentally, the fact CW also put on record when saying a couple in early next week, that the backing from the board has been terrific, I’m hoping means there’s still a high value signing to come

We were supposed to have bid for him in the summer but the 'rumoir' was hes hoping for one of the big teams to come in for him.

Would be insane if we signed him. Very very insane.
Based on your own perspective of who we are and what we are capable of? Please try and think different. We all need to think different. The past is not the present or the future.

What Sheffield United was or did in the past is not what Sheffield United will do in the future.

Have you realised the world around you has changed?

(I know it’s bloody hard to accept) but you are just another Blade viewing the present through a past lens).

In fairness to Ricky I agree. He's been linked with Chelsea, Spurs & Liverpool this season, as well as Inter & Napoli. It would be an incredibly unlikely coup, but a very welcome one.

Well i don’t think we will catch Liverpool. But Chelsea? Why not? And Spurs? We are ahead of them are we not?

And if you were him, where do you think you might get the most game time and highest profile of those 3 clubs?

So what’s the argument against us doing this?

There isn’t one. It’s just the poor downtrodden inferior Sheffield mentality that’s getting in the way of people seeing opportunity.

Totally unsurprising unfortunately :(!

Reminds me of xavi (bear with me) leaves the ball for the defender, plays in front of him, defender comes for it - gone.

Watch him and iniesta, always knocked the ball away from themselves just enough that only they could reach it, committed others and away...

Reminds me of Bash. Bergenbauer anyone?

Seriously though, looks like a very tidy combination of Bash and Lunny. Be staggering if we pull this one off.

Took me 6 minutes to realise who he reminded me of.
Franz Beckenbauer. No higher praise.
Videos are dangerous though aren't they. He played against English teams this season and never got a mention as far as I know.

The Prince has talked of bringing in better quality players......well, as much as I realise that a clip of a player can often mislead, or at best suggest they're far better than you'd hope for, this guy looks the mutt's nuts. Composed, assured, and he looks strong with a decent attacking threat. If Wilder was serious about signing this guy I'd hope for someone capable of lifting us to even better standards. Should be an interesting Jan or possibly the summer, but the thought of us signing someone of this quality is exciting.

I get the sentiment but thinking a player wouldn’t join us over Chelsea or Spurs isn’t a downtrodden inferior Sheffield mentality. It’s realism.

At the end of the day you don't have a clue about the player in question. Which is only to be expected.

Unfortunately for us if it was a straight shoot out between us Spurs and Chelsea we wont get a look in, they'll pay him what, 80 grand a week? More? And for foreign players London is a lure too.

Edit - by the way 'poor downtrodden Sheffield mentality'? Tha wot?

I'm pretty sure Klopp publicly praised him. After he played against Spurs their fans were all over twitter demanding his signing. I watched both games because I was interested to see how good he was after I'd heard Wilder went in for him in a big way in the Summer.

Why doesn't this thread appear in the Rumour Mill section when I check, but it is the headline one under the Rumour Mill heading on the main page.

Is it just me?

Yes and we're only 10pts clear of relegation. Mind you Spurs & Man U are 11 and Arsenal are only 7pts away from the drop - happy days for pessimists...
