Not sure how to take that fella. If it's sincere then I agree. If it's not, then surely you can't be serious? If you haven't got time to talk to your paying customers at a time when your product is failing miserably in its' performance, then you shouldn't be running that business. And what's more, we're paying hundred's of thousands a year to a chief exec who, for me, should have been more communicative over the recent period.

The 'timing' may simply be the first occasion that they can get the two guys together for two consecutive evenings. How should I know, but I dont immediately think that it is part of a carefully orchestrated smokescreen, or that it is by pure incompetance either..?

Well, bearing in mind that all those who are most vocal about 'getting answers' seem to be washing their hair, and the only thing that they state will make a difference to their ST purchase is whether Blackie is still manager, it seems to be a bit self defining really. I doubt that the announcement is going to be that Blackie is leaving, and as they dont believe anything else that McCabe says, then the timing is surely academic?

I think there will be some interesting stuff but is there really anything that they are likely to say that will have everyone rushing to the ticket office..?

Apologies, I seem to have misread numerous of your recent posts when you appeared, quite noticeably by your standards, to criticise the club for the very same thing.

I intend to go, but I don't agree that anything will be learned. It will be typical Q and A like prime ministers Question time, with little chance to really dig. (For instance, they'll tell us that Ched Evans was one of the highest transfers in the division, but people will still choose to believe Radio Sheffield instead because the detail wont be discussed.)

Not that I'd want to mirror that lot at The Sty, but actually engaging in debate on places like this would have some merit.

At least the club have bothered, but really far too little, far too late.

UTB

Well that in itself should be a question. We've heard figures from 750,000 to £3 Million for Ched Evans can you please breakdown that transfer for us.

They did it for the Kyles transfers.

Why do we have to change our kit every season? Given that these are difficult times economically can we go back to alternating between changing the home and away kits, so each one lasts two seasons? As the club has to make cutbacks, so do the supporters. Or are the club happy to continue this policy? I know we don't have to buy shirts, but it would make it easier on the wallet if each shirt's use lasted longer than a year.

I actually sent an email asking if I could go and be able to ask Mr McCabe why he thinks it would be of benefit to me to renew my season ticket.
I will let you know if I get to go and ask the question.
I imagine it will be easier to get a direct answer from a politician

But last time they answered the questions and then came back to you, if you think they ducked your question tell them. If they cut you off then fair enough but to say you can't be bothered to go because they won't do this or that is just nonsense.
Out of most of the posters on here Mica I thought you'd want to go to ask the details financial questions.
Have you ever even sent them in a letter to McCabe? In fact have you made any effort at all to get the answer you seem to crave?

I would think the answer would be that they could reduce the amount of kits, but that would obviously have an effect on the amount of revenue generated. Would fans take that as a trade, no extra change of kits but the wage bill would come down further from £5 Million. Would you accept that?
I'd rather them pump out the kits and you buy what you can afford. This way you get additional money from the more affluent fans into the clubs coffers without putting up ticket prices for example which hits everyone.

The obsession with replica kits is just one example of the over-commercialisation of the game that has led those who run it (and the prima donnas that play in it) to stray further and further away from reality. It's a long time since it was truly a sport. I'm not suggesting that we should return to the flat caps and suits or jackets that our great grandfathers wore to watch football, but some of us need to take a long hard look at the amount of money we chuck at football and decide whether it's worth it.

I'd love to see the maths on this one actually. I'm guessing there aren't many people who are willing/able to buy 3 brand new kits every year. .

Maybe selling one kit every year at £25 quid will sell to more fans than 2/3 kits at 30 quid to less fans.

Will the cost of having ground staff fannying with the pitch when the Eagles are ruining it be covered by the revenue from those who wish to watch egg-chasing bum-touchers? Having those highly skilled blokes aimlessly prod the pitch with knackered gardening forks in one hand and phones in the other can't be cheap.

Therein lies a big problem, many of the moaners have simply stopped believing in visionary statements like the latest as reported by Foxy from the P.O.Y.

Eight hours bastard typing and he gets the credit.

Bloody typical ;)

Bet Foxy would have done it quicker...

Bet Foxy would have done it quicker...

Story of his life ;)

If I recall, didn't Foxy have to take the control and finish the thing off? after the initial 8 hour stretch, it was up to him to finish things up so to speak? :p

I bet you're both in the same room posting at the same time. Saddo's ;)

and you've decided that how? have you tried asking him? if you haven't then how can he answer or ignore you?

Then go and ask him the ones that aren't the "last thing we need"? What do you think he's going to do if you ask him? press a button and drop you into the shark tank beneath the undersoil heating?

Yes.

Depends on what exactly the question is, is your beef with him that he won't tell you how much his Mrs spends in Tesco whilst we are dropping our wage bill (like everyone else)?

When else should they have done it? given that we don't know what is coming between now and then or the decisions being made behind closed doors. There may be a reason for their timing, there might not be.

I intend to find out about the 'myths' Birch speaks of by going along and giving him the opportunity to tell me, rather than having a dig at him on here without finding out for myself.

I really don't understand the logic. You want questions answered, but won't ask them. You want people to tell you, but won't give them the opportunity to answer you or prove your theory right.

Is it that you'd rather not have the difficult situation of having to come round to their way of thinking? or something else? because I'm genuinely not sure.

It's very simple Foxy. I do not believe one word he says. If he said the recession has really hit me very hard and therefore I needed to sell walker and I need the Tevez cash out to protect the wealth me and my family had built up then I'd have alot more respect for him. That might not be the case - I aint saying I'm right - but I'm convinced I am fairly close to the truth with that. Rather than say that - I think we'll get more of the chill winmd affecting football rubbish and worldwide recession (as if the Australian commercial property market really affects SUFC).

I must stress he is perfectly entitled to get the Tevez cash. I have no problem with an owner not putting funds in - a CCC club should be able to function well by spending what it brings in - but you need a decent manager. We aint got one. I do have a problem with a football club being involved in property speculation - major problems. I'd much prefer McCabe to take all the risk and upside - and then he can put the wedge into SUFC if he thinks the time is right - as he did a few years ago I believe - fair play. I think he's just got himself in a bit of a mess basically.

If you think that this 'mythbuster' session is going to clear the air from then I think you are seriously mistaken.

They should have done it at least 2 weeks before the season ticket deadline.

I won't be going (not in a DD "washing my hair" way) but because I can't be arsed.

I HAVE sent a letter to the club regarding season ticket non-renewal and asking several questions.

This sort of thing always ends up with a general bum licking and "ooh Kevin, can I have your babies" atmosphere. I'm with Micaliajo on the "don't believe a word" thing as the only thing I knew something about that was brought up last time was answered with a load of bollocks that people now take as gospel.

I have sent an Email to attend ... but I fear coming out dizzy with all the spin , might just half a bottle of Whiskey and save the bus fare :)

You just need to read Birch's programme notes to recognise what a waste of time it'll be. Not one word of substance on what we're trying to achieve apart from some bizarre notion that youth is the way forward - apparently under a manager who hasn't played one young player in this of all seasons.
Wonder if we're going to top Wednesday's season ticket sales by deadline day.

Predictably all mouth and no trousers.

If you really think that this is the case, why not go along and call them up on it? give them the opportunity to squirm under your claims?

Claims? Just read Birch's embarrassing notes. Or look at who's played for us this season.
It doesn't matter what is said by anyone at a pointless Q&A after the deadline.
The damage is done, they've lost thousands of season ticket holders - and they didn't care.

Then perhaps you should go along and tell him they are embarrasing and ask them about the timing and why they don't care?

Or you could just sit at home and whinge about it? :)

I'm perfectly happy to do the latter.
Allow yourself to be reeled in all you like, the reality is in what they've done - or not done - to convince anyone to buy a season ticket.
A Q&A after doing f all to get anyone interested is just insulting.

Then you have little need to complain about the lack of answers or supporter involvement in future then do you?

How exactly am I being reeled in? I'll be going to listen with great interest how they propose to take Sheffield United forward and what they class as myths. I'll ask any questions I feel the need to ask.

The reality is, they've billed it as an opportunity to ask questions and get answers. You regularly ask questions, but don't wish to ask them of the people that can actually answer them.

Why not present your concerns to them in an attempt to better the club? If you think they won't answer you or answer you honestly, then call them up on that?

Does this somehow mean I believe every word they say or I'm sticking up for them?

Having a Q&A is insulting? but having no dialog with the fans is insulting? pretty much everything is insulting?

It's insulting to have it after the deadline. It's pretty obvious they have nowt to say but if it helps you feel they're really bothered, knock yourself out.
Things'll be looking good now we've got Pembo running the academy, saw the recession coming, assets exceed £50m debt, financially secure, cutting cloth, playing budget still competitive, looking to make more out of the foreign links bla bla bla.

You're being reeled in Foxy, not by McCabe, but by lenners.

This thread is absolutely made for him, of course he's not going to do anything, just like he didn't at the AGM.

Your error is to try and reason with him, using logic and common sense. WOFT as they used to say on VP.

can I just ask why having it after the ST deadline makes one bit of difference. They aren't ceasing to sell them after the deadline are they. You can still go and buy one after the deadline. The fact they are doing a Q&A at all, for the second time in less than a year, is a lot more than what most other clubs would do, whether the speak what some of you call 'bullshit' or not. If they hadn't have done this they would be accused of doing nothing, now they have, it's not soon enough.

Well NEWSFLASH, the world doesn't revolve around certain people and how and when they think things should happen. Live with it, just don't go moaning about on here. Fair play to the club for doing it at all, because if I read all the drivel the likes of lenners is coming out with on here, I'd cancel the chuff!
