In my opinion and from my perspective, the best thing about being from our wonderful city, in a footballing sense, is if you're from a Sheffield footballing family you're brought up into Sheffield football.

Whether it be them mucky lot or the better Red and White half of the city.

I've worked in education across a load of different regions: West Mids, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Buckinghamshire and it certainly isn't the case elsewhere. I meet plenty of young 'uns who are brought up to be Liverpool, City or Spurs fans but you don't seem to see as much of back home. You're generally from either side of Sheffield and proud of it.

That's something we should take pride in.

Just underlines the parochial inward-looking nature of the folks here doesn't it? ;)

Possibly, but 50% of the city being tossers is more shameful.

Hang on a minute, 48% if you don't mind!!
There's not 1 of the younger kids round me that sport a Wendy shirt anymore, and more and more of the "smaller club"(Blades) shirts appearing.

Ay up kozzy and good op , whilst I partly agree with what your saying going back a few years I would have agreed 100% but since the premier league yrs / sky I think it has changed , also I think that since there's more family's splitting up / getting divorced I think that has affected change too , all my dads side of the family born and bred blades going back generations as were my mums side too but as they were all girls on my mums side and married mainly pigs the blades side got diluted .
A couple of quick examples of what I have come across are what's changed my mind .
A few yrs back me n Mrs NBM were walking my nieces dog in Richmond park and there was a group of maybe 6 or 7 young lads playing footy , the dog ran over n started barking like mad at them I said to the lads is cos 1 of you must support Wednesday , laughing at them if you were all blades the dog would be fine ALL THE LADS said no not me me mister and every one of them reeled a prem club off they supported not a single one was utd or wed , I couldn't believe it .
The second example is a pig I know thro work , he has a step son and I was chatting with him and he said he had bought season tickets for the lane , so I said does yr step son support utd then , he said no he doesn't support anyone just wants to see the prem league teams play , which again I couldn't believe
So I think Sheffield is quickly catching up with the places you mentioned .
