"If the ball touches the referee or another match official and goes into the goal, or results in a change of possession or a promising attack, a dropped ball will be awarded"

That's the rulebook which VAR checked for. However the grey area is if the referee doesn't technically touch it but still interferes in play, which this seems to fall under.

Just about to message same it happened at the lane earlier this season? ????

VAR checked and say the ball didn’t touch the ref.
However the ref did obstruct our player stopping him from collecting the ball.

The game's gone. When you have a ref on the pitch denying that he's committed an obvious obstruction backed up by faceless referees in an ivory tower that's the unfortunate reality. Yet they can see that our goals are a public hair offside.

Replays show the ball didn't hit the ref, he just completely blocked Fleck out of the way.

Utter shit that they scored from it, but by the laws of the game, it was right to play on...sadly!

I recall about 22 years ago v Bradford city at the Lane.
City clearance hit the dozy clown in the back, it rebounded to Gareth Taylor who scored.
Bizarre isn't it?
