I should add Lunny has even thrown in as an example but this would be the same for any of our squad.

Maybe I am talking from personal experience? Chasing the money doesn’t necessarily lead to the happiness you think it will. Nothing comes for free, there is always a cost somewhere to pay it’s just not necessarily money. It could be increased stress, it could be a role you don’t enjoy, it could be less time with your family, it could be you’ll lose your family, it could be all the above.
As I’ve now said multiple times, I’d have no issues with anyone, be that people who work for me or players at the club I follow, making these choices for themselves and I’d personally wish them well, but purely chasing money doesn’t always equal happiness and it’s naive in the extreme to think it will. There is much more to consider if you want to make an informed decision.
What I will say is an offer of a lot of money can and tends to reduce how much you actually consider before coming to your conclusion.

there is risk for lunny whichever route he takes but a really sensible option might be to take a 3 year premier league deal as a 1st team player at united.

Exactly. I suppose the question is does his current deal give him what he wants? Is he happy or does he feel we wants more, either personally or financially? I’m sure someone will be in his agents ear saying some clubs are willing to offer him more, and he’s right to tell his client what’s on the table. But, I do think they should also look at the example of Duffy. We are a very well drilled side, who know exactly what they are doing and this raises our performances, their profile and of course, results.
Again, we’re using Lunny as the example but it’s the same for Fleck, Egan, JoC and the rest.
So long as we keep CWAK and we can limit exits to no more than a couple of first teamers each season I genuinely think we would cope with losing anyone, but the club need to be strong, replace/improve on what we lose and ensure players know where they are. We really do appreciate them, just look at the support Dids is getting, and we want all of them to stay with us and move us forward but no one is irreplaceable.
They need to look what’s on offer and make the best decision for themselves, but don’t hold the club to ransom, if you want to go then go, and don’t try and cause mischief in order to get out of your contract and all will be well.

The one lesson from our last campaign in the Prem, is we need cover for the only striker scoring, this is the main reason we went down last time.

Hopefully Ollie Mc and Didsy will get a few each over the Christmas period starting today, otherwise we need to spend big on a proven goal scorer, even if an older one on his way down, a Sharp or Clark from the Prem could make all the difference.

That makes zero sense. Why would a club allow us to loan to buy cheaper than they could sell a player for? We're in the top division now. Why would a team take less in summer than in January? If the loan is just covering the wages then surely they'd prefer the money now?

I agree. Realistically we have 2 strikers - Moose and OliMc. Sharp and Clarke are bit part players at best now (Clarke being more or less out of the picture) and Didz is essentially a link player, not a striker in the real sense of the word.

We are light up front. But of course, ready made strikers cost big money! I think we will be ok points wise to go with what we have this season, but we need to plan and prepare for next - which will be in the premier league! One or two shit off a shovel young lower league or foreign strikers showing plenty of potential would do for me. Chuck maybe £6-8m at it. Give them time to get used to our way of playing then ramp up in pre-season and see if they are up to it.

I think Jean Kevin Augustin could be a Mousset type gamble. He looked to have a lot of potential a couple of years ago but couldn’t get in the Leipzig team ahead of Werner and Poulson.

He has been on loan at Monaco this season but can’t really get in the side and they are apparently looking to end the loan next month.

From the couple of times I have seen him play he seems to play similarly to Mousset. Has a lot of pace and likes to run the channels. If the price is right I think it would be a worth while gamble.
