I agree to an extent, I love the FA cup still has its magic for me personally although not as much as it did admittedly, however not only if we’re in a relegation battle how about if we get to the 5th/6th round in March and we’re still in with a shout for a European spot ?!
I do want to win a FA cup in my lifetime but I also want to see us in Europe.
staying up in premiership is the best trophy. concentrating on this for 3 good years before anything else.
Moose - Injured?Compromise.
Rest our International first-team players who won't have had a proper break since the season started.
Play the first-team players who aren't internationals and have had regular weeks off.
Moore
Basham Jagielka O'Connell
Baldock Lundstram Norwood L.Freeman Osborn
Sharp Mousset
Subs:- Verrips, K.Freeman, Bryan, Stearman, Morrison, Clarke, ?? (Academy player)
Should be few enough changes to ensure a cohesive team performance.
While giving our 8 internationals a breather.
I hate playing Wendy with a passion because I am scared of losing but playing them in the third round at home yeah I'd have some of that because wilder would go for it and maybe we could smash em to bits, not taking the result for granted but this team could just murder em,how great in a great season would that be, a memory with the best.Only way I'd be interested is if we were guaranteed a match with the filthy grunters. So we could annihilate them.
Other than that I'm not bothered.
I'd rather be in Europe next season than win the FA cup..
Moose - Injured?
Lundstram - already on 4 yellow cards
Look how many were knackered after an hour against Man U. (I now i've been praising the fitness and conditioning staff)
December - 7 games in one month. (More injuries and suspensions?)
Let's wait and see who is left standing and who we get in the draw in early January, when we have some interesting fixtures already.
When is the third round drawn?
The 3rd round draw never fails to get me disproportionately excited. Trying to keep a tally of how many big clubs plus Wednesday are left in the hat and how many matches there are still to be drawn. "Ok 23 games left, 4 big'uns and the pigs left, a 1 in 9 chance of a good tie". Followed by "and Sheffield United will host.......Shrewsbury" & a muttered 'fucks sake' before sticking the kettle on.Yellows are competition-specific. Lundstram will get banned for one Premier League game when he gets his fifth yellow regardless of whether the FA Cup is the next scheduled match.
This Monday, 7pm. Games between Friday 4th and Monday 7th January..

Followed by "Sheffield Wednesday at home to.... Grimsby Town" so you know that United v Shrewsbury is going to be a 1pm kick off on a Sunday in front of 2,400 at the Lane.
Yep, same here. But when said 'big un' faces a giant killer, but they both put out their reserves, it kills the drama like VAR. It's in built in me to still get excited but when even the lower league clubs play their reserves, it's gone hasn't it?The 3rd round draw never fails to get me disproportionately excited. Pigs at the Lane for me.We're ball number 34, drawn on Monday.
Who do we fancy?
I'd go for an entertaining away game against a non-league side. The magic of the cup.
I couldn’t think of anything worse. It’s an absolute no win. We’re expected to beat them, it will be a full on physical test of our first team and there’s a chance one of their lummoxes will injure one of our key players, which the pigs would love. Fuck that.Pigs at the Lane for me.

I’d like a nice non league team where we can fill their ground (and they’ll be happy that we do), put out a second string and probably still win (maybe give some of the non internationals a leg stretch) and hopefully get some more points on the board before the fourth round and see if we’re close enough to safety to give it a go.They will also be allowed 25% of the crowd so will be given the whole Lane end and at cheap prices, will fill it.
A lose - lose for us.
