Lundstram deserves praise for his performances this season, but I think a lot of the praise is over the top.
Because McBurnie cost £20m the expectations were high, so his ok performances are being viewed as wank by some and he’s getting written off already. Lundstram in contrast was being talked about this summer as losing the number 7 shirt and maybe leaving. With rock bottom expectation, his solid 6 or 7 out 10 performances are being talked up as if we’ve got a future legend at the club.
If we are still a Premier League club next season I have doubts Lundstram will be a regular starter, I’m certain he won’t be if we’re still in this league the 21/22 season. Let’s not forget Wilder was apparently willing to spend £20m+ on Sander Berge.
