Too honest, or just right?
He doesn't slate players, he questions aspects of their game when he knows they can do better. Its a big difference.I love the fact that he has a winner’s mentality. However, I think he needs to be careful how he does it public. Consistently slating players to the media (I’m not saying he’s doing that, but it has been borderline in recent weeks), rarely ends well. I think the fans should be commended for how they reacted to Hendo following his mistake. I’ve no doubt that helped him refocus and save the Salah effort. Like it or not, sometimes people respond better to a cuddle rather than a rocket. The best leaders are able to understand and adapt to that.

Hendo is big enough to accept that he has dropped a bollock and Wilder isn't one to shy away from questions and dress things up. Wilder was bang on the money yesterday with the set up for the game.
Correct me if i am wrong, but i don't think Wilder brings in players that need cuddling
I'm sure Wilder is aware of that and treats them as individuals but no point hiding from the truth .Henderson is not short on confidence (even arrogance) Wilder called him out to make him a better keeper. not to destroy him.I love the fact that he has a winner’s mentality. Wilder is spot on though. The mistakes are visible to a global audience. It's a bad error, and not the only one he's called out. Hopefully in the background a discussion will take place along the lines of, " have more faith in yourselves, you deserve to be here and this match shows it, now go and win a few". I think Wilder's record shows he has a feel for man management and the performances he's got out of Coutts, Freeman, Baldock, Stevens, Wright, Lundstram, Basham, JOC and Clarke bear that out in their careers.I don’t think it’s that black and white. Different situations call for different responses, even for the same person. It’s one of the reasons I feel Roy Keane was one of the best midfielders of his generation but makes an awful manager. SAF has spoken about instinctively knowing when to deploy the hairdryer, and when to put an arm around someone.
I agree Hendo should be big enough to accept his mistake, which I’m sure he has. Now imagine Wilder has had a word, great. Now imagine Hendo also hearing/seeing his manager criticising him in the media. That’s the bit I think he needs to be careful of.

The problem I think is when the managers starts to say that the players he's got aren't good enough, that's toxic for the team and Wilder has gone nowhere near that.
I once watched Ian Wright describe a foreign player as "bumming" an England striker on BBC TV, because he marked him closely.Ian Wright made a similar comment to mine on MOTD so I don’t I’m saying something outlandish.
Chris was throwing down a marker to Henderson.. he must have seen something in training..I love the fact that he has a winner’s mentality. he could start by improving his distributionI once watched Ian Wright describe a foreign player as "bumming" an England striker on BBC TV, because he marked him closely.
He is to punditry what the chuckle brothers were to comedy.
I understand the point you are making, but these premier pundits have shown time and again that they really aren't paying attention to what wilder is doing, so their opinions/comments are taken out of context. The responses on here have more validity because it is clear that the whole squad has bought into the Wilder way, otherwise we wouldn't be where we are. Deano is a super confident young man who, as Wilder points out in another interview, wants to be England goalie and Man Utd no 1. He's got some improvement to do to get there and I'm sure him and CWAK will work on that
ian wright said matip was brilliant ?? eh?Ian Wright said he thought Wilder was being harsh on Henderson and should put an arm around him. I'm assuming that he'd forgotten the howler against Chelsea only three matches before. But then again I don't expect Ian Wright to remember his own name.
