I hate to put a dampener on things but for me, he currently isn't worth 17/20 Mill.

We completely change our way of playing for him, go direct and predictable. However he very rarely wins headers and more often than not goes down, too lightweight, getting muscled off. When he does win headers (goal aside) then he doesn't direct them properly.

Hope he improves, but when Billy, didsy and Leon are still in the mix, then your front men aren't doing it.

So good you said it twice ...........:p:p:p:p

Give the fella a chance! Not only does he have to adapt to the way we play but also the Premier League. How many minutes has he played? On today’s showing against a world class defender he’s moving in the right direction. Let’s also be realistic. For 20m you get a high end championship striker, not Sergio Aguero

We are, but I always remember a Sunday league team I once managed. Our number 10 kept complaining, "boss he keeps marking me". Well I said, have you thought about moving away from him?

McBurnie was up against Van Dyjk, so what? How about McBurnie moving Van Dyk out of the middle and how about the greatest tactical manager since Harris withdrawing McBurnie and pushing on with a three running at a defender who is supreme when playing forward but might be unhappier when turned?

Yeah thats right. Should have done what you told that sunday league team to do that one time. Dominant were you?

Its a game of margins. I wouldnt rather a chance fell to anybody else tbh.

Think what he's trying to say is"look at me, look at me, aren't I clever"

Thought McBurnie put in on hell of a shift today as did everyone. We played really well against the champions of Europe and we were unfortunate not to get a draw. An error and some missed chances cost us. Can't remember McBurnie missing any guilt edge opportunities. Yep the strikers need to be better but I'm bloody proud of all the lads today but pissed off with the way we lost. Thought Wilder was spot on.

Oh and to get my insult in first which disapointing seems the norm tonight, anyone who disagrees with me is a chuff!

This thread is a total pile of shit. McBurnie bled for the cause today and is unlucky not to have notched more goals this season. Some fans just do not understand foorball.
Giving 100% effort and bleeding for the cause is a given as Wilder says, every player should do that. For 20 million McBurnie should be able to do more than just run around and chase down balls. So far this season I don't see anything close to a 20 million pound striker, if that means I don't understand football then so be it.

How many chances did he get today?

What year are your £20m strikers from though? What's your frame of reference?

11 years ago Barcelona paid £21m for Thierry Henry, now you're looking at £40m for guaranteed PL goals, and even that's not a certainty.

I thought he was a striker. I thought strikers scored goals. We are never going to have a better chance of beating Liverpool and we fucked up. If we are going to stay up, it's not by not scoring at home.

Unfortunately i think Wilder has made big mistakes with both McBurnie and Robinson, both look like your typical average to decent Championship players and we've just spent huge money on them (for us).

Are we seeing the drawbacks of not having a wider scouting network outside of the UK?
😂😂 7 games. 7.

Astonishing isn’t it? I’m assuming these are the same people who were calling for Wilder to be sacked when we lost the first 4 games a few seasons ago
Writing our new signings off after 7 games is a new one.

Then again people were writing off Egan as a waste of money after 2. I shouldn’t be surprised.

They can't actually be watching us though can they.
Then explain some of the stuff posted ?

Opinions are opinions. It’s what this is all about.

Defending what is, frankly, agenda driven tosh when the VAST majority of available evidence suggests Wilder IS NOT very good at picking offensive players, smacks of stubbornness and an inability to accept one has dropped a bollock. Or four !!

Giving balance, his defensive signings have been the stuff of dreams 😀.

I wonder why ????

Wilder and Knill would do well to bring in an offensive specialist to oversee recruitment.

There. I said it 😀.

For me, McBurnie looks very good in a team that isn't playing to his strengths - if he were playing for Chelsea, I'd have no doubt he would be on more goals than Abraham. Watch the two of them and see how they play and read the game. Similar physique, but McBurnie offers far more as an all-round striker.

We have far bigger worries than Ollie McBurnie - he's one of the bright spots for me!
