Mcburnie

I think it's a difficult one..

If we're in the Championship, he's scored 5 or 6 goals now. People need to realise we're up against quality defenders. McBurnie was being marked by one of, if not the best CB in the world today

Is it a difficult one, though? We're not in the Championship for starters. And I do think that those of us expressing criticism over McBurnie do realize just in what league we play in and so forth. 20 million £ just seems waste of money in my honest opinion. As for me, I saw McBurnie loosing it in the air to almost anyone he was against, not just "their CB". And he also missed the few chances he had. That's all. I most definitely hope he'll improve, and that so I won't need to write a post like this again in the future.

McBurnie was abysmally bad today. I feel sh*te thinking as to how the Blades were supposedly to spend reasonable cash to strenghten the attack, and this is what we've got having spent nearly £ 40. Wilder is good, Wilder is great, and long live Wilder - but this time he's got the transfer business wrong. And f*ck everyone telling as to how I'm supposedly a "wrist-slasher", don't know sh*te etc. F*ck your deluded selves, please.

Hey WestSiberia, you do realise that McBurnie is the tall, skinny, beardy, homeless looking one don't you?

I keep watching him and coming away thinking “did he do well or did the game just completely pass him by?”.

The things to consider are:

  • He’s played in 2 PL games in a week where the opposition have had 70% of the ball each game.
  • He played against a £75m defender today.
  • He looks a handful and shows a good touch when he can get hold of the ball.
On the flip side:

  • He was terrible in both cup games against lower league opponents.
  • He has won a handful of headers at best in the last 3 PL games we’ve had.
  • He moans like mad at the ref and tries to fight with defenders.
  • He has no pace.
  • He’s only scored 1 goal.
Really hope he improves.

I don't think he holds the ball up very well, his movement is good though.

I don't know what to make of him but like I said in the shoutbox he should get better once he is more used to our system.

We are, but I always remember a Sunday league team I once managed. Our number 10 kept complaining, "boss he keeps marking me". Well I said, have you thought about moving away from him?

McBurnie was up against Van Dyjk, so what? How about McBurnie moving Van Dyk out of the middle and how about the greatest tactical manager since Harris withdrawing McBurnie and pushing on with a three running at a defender who is supreme when playing forward but might be unhappier when turned?

No, of course not, as I'm based in Siberia. Some sensitivity, please... I thought McBurnie was that stocky, clean-shaved guy in a black shirt. Did I miss something?

Point taken, I still stand by my original point though. UTB.

Fair enough, but fyi if you're original point was that we overpaid and he's the one who changes the way we play, I can't agree.

We got what we paid for, and Wilder decides the tactics as far as I'm concerned.

I'm expecting better.

You're probably going to be disappointed then. We paid the going rate for someone who's got potential, proven at championship level and without PL experience - and that's what he seems like so far.
I'll ask the same question to you - which player did we miss out on that would have cost a similar amount? (Again you even have the benefit of hindsight)

when we finally get a ££££££ player we do expect him to hit the ground running. Let's face it we're not used to see players being bought for over £5M!!

Why do you expect him to hit the ground running? Just because we paid more than we're used to, doesn't change the fact that PL goalscorers are like rocking horse shit, don't usually sign for newly promoted sides and cost a damn site more than £17m-£20m.

Surprised how much stick McBurnie is getting today.

I agree with some who have said he needs to bulk up a bit or work on his strength, however, VVD is a class act and it is no shame to have had a tough afternoon against him.

Biggest problem we have up top is that Chrissy Wilder does not seem to know his best system when everybody is fit.

That said I suspect McBurnie or Sharp may have taken some of the chances today but we will never know

Thought McBurnie was a really decent outlet today. Quick to get his head up and tried to make things happen. Considering Van Dijk is the best centre half I've ever seen, can't be too critical of McBurnie.

Defensively McBurnie was excellent too, quick to drop back, closed people down. Didn't do much wrong for me.

Right this is really it! I have no points to make or comments to consider but I want to be part of this internal dogfight and maybe be even called sweetie? Its that really too much to ask. FFS guys I want some *ucking abuse (please).

The bottom line is that we played well today and lost!!!! Don't start this shit again about being unlucky as we just didn't score and that is the dilemma...………….so who's gonna change that.....serious debate please and as my previous post get your insults in first please????
