Chris Basham: I could have selected anyone in the Sheffield United back three but I have gone for Chris Basham.
The 31-year-old is no spring chicken but when it comes to defenders winning headers, putting his body on the line and remaining cool under pressure, then he's the man.
This was an impressive defensive display by the Blades against an Everton side who seem to have lost their way. When you put players on massive salaries you are entitled to big performances and too many players in blue are not justifying their earnings.
Did you know? No Sheffield United player has made more blocks than Chris Basham (four) in the Premier League this season.

Tin hat time ...... How has this guy still got a job? Is it because he's black and has the poshest accent for a Stokie known to man? The man is a complete fuckwit. At least Chris Kamara doesn't take himself too seriously and is a genuinely funny and knowledgeable pundit. Crooks is just a clown who seems to actually believe that he's an expert.
 
A paper gave Basham MOTM as well. I didn't see the match so I can't comment on whether that was correct, but it surprised me given all I had heard about Egan and Lundstram.

It’s a well known fact amongst clayheads that Garth had elocution lessons, although obviously I can’t prove that.

I also used to work with someone whose claim to fame was that he got Garth Crooks’ sister up the duff. I never asked him to prove that either, nor did it occur to me to ask him if she was fit. A female version of Garth doesn’t bear thinking about.

In the summer of 1986 I was holidaying in Rhodes Town and stayed at the same hotel as an older lady and her, quite fit, daughter.
Transpired they were the mother and sister of Garth C.
She certainly hadn't had any kids at that time. I certainly "would have" not withstanding being with my girlfriend at the time!

FFS, it's bad enough when the shameless holiday boasts are posted concurrently from abroad, but chuffing hell this is 33 years ago!

I predict we will now be innundated with boasts about Skeggy in '67, Una Paloma Blanca in '73 and even the charra to Blackpool in '39 before Herr Hitler spoiled things.

Credit to Garth Crooks for actually paying attention in the first place, but Egan was clearly the outstanding player for the Blades.

Fair comment based on the Everton game. It’s alright us saying ‘we’re a passing team, we play great football’ but there hasn’t been a great deal of it this season yet.
 
Half his comments are about how poor Everton played. The other half that Bash was the best performer on our team when it was Egan that he should have spotted as the standout.

How did she rate his performance? Unsophisticated, basic technique & a bit short upfront. Performance improved when they changed ends.
 
He’s a prick. Certainly just picked a random defender. Bash played nearly half of game in midfield to start with
