Three matches in and still winless.

So what’s happened?

I don’t know what they were like today as I didn’t go. I manage most home matches and if lucky one or two away. I have tho been watching United for over 50 years so have seen players and managers alike, come and go.
One thing I think we are missing, apart from a shed load of new signings, is a leader on the pitch. Jack Robinson is no Captain, especially when he’s unsettled. When things get rough, he reverts into himself and then explodes at either players or officials in his typical Jack Robinson way.
Vinni Souza , although I wasn’t a fan of him being Captain, at least showed some feeling, but he’s gone.
Arblaster would do a good job, but he’s injured and too young to take on the responsibility at this stage.

So who does that leave……..?

I’m struggling with this. We need a Billy Sharp / Chris Basham in the dressing room. Someone to unite players with coach and reconnect the club with supporters, because all we’ve got at the minute are a load of players that are really not getting what’s happening .

And……..

To the owners…….where are you, what are you doing about this? Wednesday fans think they’ve had no communication with their owners, well neither have we. Talk to us.

We used to be a patient, easy going crowd. We went up and down the leagues, winning some good cup matches and nearly reaching a goal. The Wilder era has shown us that , if conditions are right, we can be up there and achieve special things and because of that we no longer accept mediocrity. We don’t like losing and we don’t like players whose heads go down.

So owners, pull your fingers out and sign some players…..not just rated in their stats, but ones who have personality, grit and fire.
Manager…..talk to your players, get them onside, sort them out.
Players…..you’re playing for the Blades. Play well and you’re made for life in Sheffield. Give us 100%, that’s all we ask for , if you don’t, we’ll show no mercy.

Ok, rant over. I won’t let this result ruin my weekend, don’t let it ruin yours either.

Cheers

Already has ruined my weekend, sat in a service station on the M4 after watching that talking to Charlton fans who just got a point at Bristol City. They are excited for the season ahead whereas I fell like the soul is quickly being sucked out of our club.

No leaders, little passion, little fight, little movement and constantly giving the ball away. Our main CB is waiting on a move and the other is a 20 yr kid. However 2 new CBs isnt sorting this out. Feels like something is seriously wrong when our 2 most important players, Hamer and Campbell dont get a kick all game.

Oh and despite decent numbers I thought our support was very subdued today too.

We don't have a single leader simple as that. What we do have is a group of players with shit attitudes sulking over the loss of Wilder and a few team mates. Should have thought about that when they capitulated at Wembley, some are not as good as they think they are, put zero effort in and you are going nowhere, not naming names but most will know who I'm talking about.

Given he was captain at Peterborough, I'm surprised Burrows hasn't worn the armband yet.

If not him, Campbell maybe?

Edit: Not sure if either of them are the proper leaders we lack, but surely they (especially Burrows) would be a better option than Robbo.

Wilder didn't like leaders so we had none at the club.

Of course, you're right. No leaders while Wilder was here, no siree.

Here's Billy Sharp celebrating not leading us to winning a league title and promotion from League One with 100 points:

Here's a whole bunch of players celebrating not leading us to a famous Bouncing Day victory:

Here's Chris Basham celebrating not arriving to not lead us to a victory over Leeds on our way to promotion from the Championship:

And here's Billy Sharp, again, celebrating not leading us to the second promotion he did not lead us to under Wilder (together with Wilder, who is clearly seething with resentment towards his Captain, due to his dislike of leaders):

So many non-leaders under Wilder, celebrating not leading us to anything good at all. It's a miracle any of us survived this period of non-leaders, not achieving anything, without becoming addicted to Prozac. 🙄

Even if Wilder didn't like leaders (we'll just ignore Wilder favourites like Baldock and Sharp for the purposes of this narrative) he's been gone for 2 months. Nothing has stopped the club bringing in some. In fact, when he was here, we were supposedly interested in QPR captain Jimmy Dunne amongst others.
