I know a lot have been moaning at the club because programmes went up 50p, then there was the drink and food prices increase which turned out to be a load of bollocks bet the moaners feel a bit silly now. The one place where a moan was justified was the sale of tickets United have cocked this up for sure £40 for membership is steep, where the club made another mistake was saying tickets went on general sale on the Wednesday they didn't you still needed membership and 500 loyalty points, Premier League rules say tickets can't go on general sale until the away allocation has NOT sold out and tickets returned. This happened Thursday so SUFC could not put tickets on general sale till Friday even then the club did not make it clear whether no loyalty points or 500 were needed, worse still they could not be bothered to open the ticket office all day Saturday plenty of people went down to find it shut. we have to do better than this. Also £35minimum for a restricted view seat ............... really SUFC?

My card wouldn’t work so I squeezed through with my son as his card did, there’s no way I was queuing in that south stand car park queue for the ineptitude of our ticketing department*, it’s been a shambles from the start to the present and needs sorting ASAP.

*I’m not in the slightest blaming the staff in the office as they get told to string a line, it’s those above them that’s needs sorting.

The club say it was dropped to zero points, because Palace didn't sell out. The idea being that away fans won't bother trying to get home area tickets if they still have away tickets available. Apparently Leicester have / will sell out, so they might stay on 500 points minimum.

How hard is it to announce general sale with the technology available in this day and age? Tickets now on general sale should have been all over social media for starters.

But I do see the dilemma for the club - have a couple thousand seats left to sell. The choice?

a) Insist on a minimum loyalty points total to reward loyal customers but risk empty seats, or
b) put tickets on general sale and risk tourists from taking up seats that real Blades wanted

I think the club dealt with ticket sales really poorly. The match had been billed in the media as a "sell out" and I had virtually given up hope of my nephew getting a ticket. I then read a posting on here to the effect that Palace had not sold their whole allocation so tickets would be on general sale. I am not quite sure why Palace not selling theirs would enable us to release tickets on general sale but no doubt someone can enlighten me.

Anyway having got this info I then went on the SUFC website and there were plenty of tickets available in BLUT. However this did not seem to have been publicized in the press. I really think the Club need to get their publicity sorted. I really think it is a shame that we could not sell out for that match even though I accept the tickets were not cheap but it was a once in a life time sort of match. Sadly there were plenty of empty seats in the BLUT which meant crowd was only just over 30,000. Wendy had 28,000 against Barnsley for God's sake.

Given that a showpiece game didn’t sell out, hopefully they will learn that the rules need slackening.

Either Leicester sales are going really well, or that lesson hasn’t yet been learned.

So we can assume for any club that isnt going to fill the away end the same thing will happen. I cant see Bournemouth or Watford selling 3k, will Southampton? Norwich may not depending on how they are doing, Burnley? Brighton ? Apart from those teams youd expect the rest to sell out so they may be the only games the minimum 500pts isnt in operation.

The 500 points is far too high. How are new fans or kids meant to get a ticket when you only get 100 points for becoming a member.

Can't help but think needing 500 loyalty points to see us play Crystal Palace means we are hurting our "future" fans.

For example, if i'd of not taken my 5 year old daughter and her cousin to at least 4 games last season (when she was four may I add) then she would never get a ticket for this season. There must be many of us that have kids that haven't yet hit the right age to go to a game, and will struggle in the future.

Also the 26k figure seems to be based on post-2007 average attendances. Loyalty points started in 2006-07 when we averaged over 30k in the PL.

The issue is clearly over new/young fans getting from 0 to 500 points to be able to get tickets, but any ‘lifelong’ Blade of adult age who hasn’t got 500 points since the summer of 2006 has not shown the club any loyalty and can have few complaints about struggling for tickets now.

I’d say Burnley will sell out. Probably Norwich as those tosspot Jethro Palmers reckon they are guaranteed three points.....

“Real” Blades would have had 500 points from last season. The main issue here is, as mentioned already, the future fan base. When parents think their kids are ready to go andcant get a ticket.

For the adult wanting tickets for themselves with no loyalty points are at the bottom of the queue, where they should be, one step below all these “loyal” Blades with less than 500 ( with some exceptions).

Why not issue 500 points for membership - tick.

The odd away fan will shell out the £40, but no more than a handful. It’s happened since time began.

When a certain amount of people, (ie the additional 2500) have to have 500 loyalty points or they can't buy a ticket what do you expect.

When our attendances have been anywhere between 19,000 and 26,000 since leaving the Premier League last time, where are the extra fans going to get the loyalty points from ? I had two friends that wanted to go, they are casual fans yes, maybe not even strong casual fans, but they wanted to go and couldn't buy a ticket.
