Why is it a surprisingly large budget? Just because someone says our budget was £20m doesn't make it fact I never believed that for a minute. The owners might not get on but they aren't stupid, Chris Wilder told them what he needed and they have backed his judgement and why not. Well done to the owners it is about time the owners of this club gave it a right good go rather than trying to do it on the cheap which has been the norm for United for decades.

PL money made them see some sense and agreement reached. One may have made a more convincing argument but the other must have agreed. Otherwise we wouldn't have been able to spend. Some - not you - want to ease one or the other out of the equation though.

The Prince said from day one just how much he wanted us back in the PL and let's be fair to him, he has stuck with us and achieved that. So well done to him. Considering this, I do think he will have wanted to spend big to keep us up.

Whether that means McCabe had the same attitude or not I've no idea and wouldn't like to say but clearly they came to an agreement in the end and everybody has benefitted.

Well done all round. We seem to be doing everything right these days.

I don't care who sanctioned the budget, just glad Wilder has been given a decent pot of cash to recruit new players. We will discover over the season if it has been spent wisely or not, be interesting one way or the other.
