Trevor Hockey comes to mind. What a ball winner he was.

A bit before my time so I never saw him in the flesh, sadly. But yes, from what I have seen, heard and read about him, a modern day version of him would do nicely.

Where did all this money com from ?
At the beginning, before any signings were made - which seemed a long, long wait for the first one - we were reliably informed that CW had £20 million.
He's not been doing that with the loaves and fishes has he ?

It's simple. Wilder entrusted one of the lads with the money (probably Basham. I'd trust Basham with money) for the Vegas trip. It was all stuck on black, as instructed, and voila, £40M to spend.

Just seen these stats posted, not sure of the accuracy, but if true, fantastic.

Oli McBurnie’s going to #SUFC

His 2018-19 compared to other Championship strikers: - 22 goals - 2nd most headed goals - 2nd most passes per game - 2nd most key passes per game - 4th most dribbles per game

23-years-old.

The best all-round striker in the league.

Villa have replaced abrahams goals with an untried Brazilian who'll be freezing his nuts off a long way from home this winter.

Reliably informed by a fucking moaner on here with an axe to grind 😂😂🙄🙄

Yes the value for money aspect really does stand out for me. Compare to what Villa have spent and I would argue that pound for pound we have had a much better window, investing in young homegrown players who will all have future sell on value.
We also have 1 more loan plus a
I don't think we've got good value with this one.
Maybe a bit overpriced but will be worth every penny if his goals keep us in the prem

He's been playing in Belgium for 3 years. Their climate is pretty much the same as ours
The climate is very similar. The standard of the league, not so much. It’s like buying from Holland or Scotland, there are good players there but it’s difficult to judge just how good they actually are, so you can get a Van Dijk or a Vertonghen but you could end up with a Ricky Van Wolfswinkel or Vincent Janssen.

I don’t think it matters. The most important thing is whether we think he’s good enough. We’ve got VFM on other signings which has allowed us to splash out on a key signing. Spending £17m on a player who’ll probably be good enough is better value than spending £10m on a player who probably won’t be good enough.

I didn't get excited for the start of the season in 1989.Or 1990 or 2006 or 2017......I might just be slightly giddy now....

I was driving up the A1 as the news broke, I literally had to pull into a lay-by (yes the A1 had them then), get out of car screaming and shouting both swear words I know over and over until I was safe to drive again.
Bother and damn?

......and prior to that he played for Trencin in slovakia, a place where winter begins in late October and finishes in March. Whilst he was there, the conditions were so bad, that they got snowed in at the training ground and had to resort to cannibalism.

If Villa had signed Mcburnie for £20 Million then I would feel we have missed out on a quality player... Also, Abraham could be leading the line at Chelsea this season having only really proved himself in the Championship. I think this is a fine signing.
