Did I imagine it or did McCabe say he would back Blackwell with £2M-£3M in the transfer window a couple of months ago ? Blackie said last night that Killa staying pretty much meant that no funds would be available and he intimated that players would only be coming in if anyone unexpectedly left as with Tongy and BT in recent times.

Maybe Killa staying was completely unexpected but it seems as though it will mean that our 'paper thin' squad looks like staying as is and whilst we can hope that the injuries won't be as bad in the 2nd half of the season, it looks like we're going to have to make do with what we have with maybe 1 or 2 more loanees.

Of course the conspiracy theorists will say it's Birch controlling things or they don't want to give any money to a manager who may be on borrowed time but you do feel for KB and any plans he may have for players.

Blackwell knew it would be like this after the Play Off final, he shouldve jumped while he had the chance. Its pathetic, we see it year on year with mccabe

Directors loaning the club money to keep it going spells no money for players.
Last night probably helped fund a loanee or two though.

Our share of the 5780 crowd's gate money won't leave much for the kitty after paying the travel and hotel costs. We can but hope for a better pay-out at Bolton.

Have you seen Boltons average attendance figures, true it might improve now they have dumped the piggy.

Was thinking prize money, not gates, though a chunk of the Bolton gate won't hurt.

We have no money it's a well known fact and that's despite KM's teaser in Oct regards making funds available for the next 8 months and recognising the fact we have too many loan players at the club.

Lenners point about directors loaning the club money is a vaild one, but I would argue that loans from directors have been going on for years. It's nothing new. However, what would make it a concern of course, are the reasons for the loans!

Anyhow if the new thread regards Killa looking likely to leave are correct, I suspect KB will get something to spend, but I doubt it will be anywhere near the fee we receive for Killa

How does that work? I didn't think they get much from the early rounds. I believe it used to be the case that one third of the gate receipts went to the home team, one-third to the away team and one-third to the FA for their prize fund pot -- but I may be hopelessly out of date. I don't know how the TV money is divvied up, for instance.

It would help fund some of Naughton's wages and give us more pace at the back in the absence of Killa.
Sensible short term move but once again only short term. When we're back in this league again next year, the jam will be spread even thinner.

Prize money for each round going back to about £750 for the first qualifying round.
It's not a huge amount but by the 4th round it's worth having.

Or alternatively they're now playing things down to the media so that prices don't rocket?

Nahhhhh....Lets stick with conspiracy theorys about KB, they're more fun to argue with Micalijo about :D

We could hope that they are just keeping things quiet but I sensed the same resignment in KBs voice last night that he had when questioned about BT last season. It seems clear that we want McSheffrey, time will tell whether we can do a deal because that certainly shouldn't be beyond us unless the purse strings really have been drawn shut.

£45m debt, directors loaning the club money, £4.5m needed this season to keep us on an even keel... the facts speak for themselves.

It looks like we are desperate for investment now, which is probably why Birch was appointed. I think it's going to be a case of soldiering on for the moment until Uncle Trev pulls another Abramovich out the bag.

Looks like we might get our transfer funds. Strong rumours of a bid being accepted for Kilgallon this morning. Whispers of Laws and Burnley going with it.

Can't see him going there though. He would be playing against us next season.

That £1.8m will come in handy.

I know it's fucking stupid. If they want us to take the FA cup more seriously then they need to increase the prize money for each round. Make the majority of the PL (top 4 aside) actually want to win it and the top championship clubs want to progress.

If the winners got £5 Million, £2.5 for semi finals £1Million for the quarters etc teams would take it serious and fans would turn up to watch it.
Of course the FA would have to promote it properly to get that kind of money back, but if they can find £1bn for that white elephant in north london you would of thought it isn't beyond the wit of man.

Even concerning United I don't give a shit about the cup until the 5th/6th round.

I doubt we would have earnt a penny from gate receipts last night. Don't forget the policing costs as well, which will have no doubt been based on a substantially larger crowd that was actually there.

I'm not sure it's calculated like that. I think you might just be entitled to 40% of gate receipts full stop.

I'd still take a cup win for a spell in admin.

I was pondering that last night... If we could come up with some sort of faustian pact, I'd probably take it.

Ten years being as a bad as Wendy in return for some silver?

Actually I'd take a cup final appearance in return for that.

I've said it for years using Leeds as the example and got laughed out of school. I'd have taken it up the rear like they have if I'd had the fun of Top 4 finishes and European Nights in Milan and Madrid but was told to be thankful we were a well run club.
