Sorry buts its a strange signing.
I agree, I think this is a total wild card and just hoping for the best. Why? Well our scouts are supposed to do umpteen checks and hours of watching players but when have they really had a chance to see Mousset in action given his time on field in the last 3 years? As ever I'm hoping for the best, before we go around the table again with the IWWTs and 'I'm more inclined to go with a professional scouts opinion'.

I would guess they have watched him in U23 matches, the crowds for which are made up mainly of scouts, and also his performances for the France age groups. Just because he hasn’t had lots of minutes in the PL doesn’t mean he hasn’t played any football.

Why do you think we signed him, out of interest?

I can’t stop myself pronouncing it Moose-et

Its a shame its not that, or we could have used ‘Push it’ by Salt n’ Peppa

“Oh, Mousset... Mousset real good!
Do-do-do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do-do” (repeat ad-nauseam, until such a time as he no longer looks ‘real good’)

"Shake shake shake, shake shake shake
Shake your Mousset, shake your Mousset

oooh

Shake shake shake, shake shake shake
Shake your Mousset, shake your Mousset"

Previous potential, (not too dissimilar to Morrison). Looking at players who would cost a similar fee (imo) most really would have no chance at PL (I'm thinking Waghorn) whereas Mousset has a chance. We need 4 strikers, we currently have 3 and 2 who have potential and looking at another. I see Mousset as a gamble if it doesn't turn out we'll still have Sharp, McG, Robinson and McBurnie (?) more than enough.

All 5 of those are a gamble at PL level

I don't see Mousset as much of a gamble to be honest.

He's only 23 so if things don't work out we'll still be able to sell him on for a decent price.

£10m isn't much money in today's market. On paper Mousset is no better or worse than Joelinton who Newcastle have just had their pants down for at £40m.

Knowing Wilder it'll probably be another masterstroke.

Good effort. But prefer mine !

On top of which, Egan’s version is too long winded.

Short.
Simple.
Few words.

We have been tracking him for at least twelve months as he admits wilder wanted him last season but Bournemouth were not prepared to let him go.
For all we know he was / is our priority VFM striker.
He has pace, power and strength
He has a great pedigree
He has potential
He has a point to prove.

He is everything that CW wants in a striker, player and personality, what is not to like!

It's a strange one this, in today's vastly overinflated market. He could well be our most expensive player ever, but he's going have to go some and do some convincing to become our best player ever.

You associate your highest fees with someone a cut above the rest, as Beattie was during his time here.

VFM?

He's the one signing so far who is a huge question mark. 10 million is a lot for a player who had a less than impressive goal record at Bournemouth. But, then again, Richalison only bagged 5 goals in 41 games for Watford, yet at Everton he's excellent. Mitrovic didn't impress at Newcastle, scoring just 4 in the Championship, but was solid at Fulham.

So, you never know. Sometimes a new team, new manager, new formation is all it takes.

He'll be at home in France next weekend though.

Just on my way back from Matlock. Mousett looks well off the pace, not sure what he’s been doing all pre season or if our fitness regime is a lot more intense than Bournemouths.

I will always trust Wilder and I won’t make my full judgement based on 20minutes against Matlock, but this signing with a £10m price tag seems risky. Hope I’m made to eat my words....again (like I did with McGoldrick)

If you're writing Mousset off after that, I hope you're also campaigning for Leon to get in the first team for Bournemouth.
Not for one bit, really hope he does well.
More commenting on his fitness with a week to go before the season starts.

I don’t think anyone is writing him off but he was an odd signing given his record to date and the fee. We all want him to do well.

But people already doubting him......

After 20 minutes at Matlock. Great fans.
