If Wednesday were in our position and paid a club record fee to sign a striker whose goal scoring record is 3 in almost 60 games everyone on here would be laughing their heads off.

His career to date in the Premier League has been an abject failure. 3 goals in 3 seasons. Do you disagree with this?

I commented about a player we were rumoured to be linked with. This is an internet forum where people express views. Many seem to have no view outside of whatever the manager thinks. So, no view, yet they'll still state it.

He's clearly a talented lad. As is Morrison. We now have two players who are 'great in training' yet don't 'do it on the pitch'. If Chris can get the best out of them then they're great signings. If they continue their form to date then they'll be bad signings. Let's hope Chris can work his magic.

You do understand that he didn't start many games don't you ? It's not like it's a secret or anything.

And why on earth do you worry what Wednesday fans might think ?

Not easy coming into any club as the only foreign player so it's a big move for him and a huge opportunity to show what he can do. Let's see what he can produce with a hefty dose of CWAK and when given regular playing time.

Got a feeling he will do well for us.
 
i think your right i think he is fine with Alan Biggs but i thought he was off handed a bit with the BBC Rs reporter

Makes me laugh why you are always slag off the club, always so untrusting about Wilder and always depressed about anything United do.

Anyone might thing you were a Wednesday fan but you’ve posted long enough and regularly enough, so deserve the benefit of doubt.

How is having an opinion about a player. About a player we hadn't signed at the time I originally made it. Slagging off the club? There were many negative comments about him as a potential signing before me.

Totally agree, it’s called “being shrewd in the transfer market”.
If Mousset plays to his potential he’s a 40 million striker, in retrospect paying 9 million will seem like a master stroke.

Tied and tested good PL players start at 20 million or so.
So we have no choice but to lower our sites and buy players with big potential and good characters willing to learn and improve.

In fact Wilder generally buys players who are hungry, with a point to prove on their way up.
So Mousset is in fact a typical Wilder signing.
 

A Bournemouth fan (see Roy's view), has calculated he has only played 1200 minutes in his time there. That is just over 13 full matches worth of game time, and puts into context his goalscoring record to date a little more accurately than 3 goals in 3 years.
If he can force his way into our starting 11 on a regular basis and gets good service I can see this being a bit of a steal rather than a risky punt.

You quote 3 goals in 60 game which sounds terrible.

But he only started 8 games and the other 52 games he only came on as sub for the last 5 to 10 minutes.
He’s never had a run of games so not had a proper chance, so it’s more difficult to pass judgement.

The general view is that he has huge take t but he flatters to deceive.
This is good news for us because it keeps the price down, if his stats were better he’d cost 30 million.
Wilder and his recruitment staff have obviously targeted “calculated risks”, players that are affordable but with potential to be decent PL standard players.
 
Presumably as a Johnny Foreigner, he will have his own changing and showering facilities.

Especially a Frenchy - will have all sorts of fancy smelling oils and unguents when he is at his toilet. Can’t have that sort of thing rubbing off on the lads.
 
On paper looks a bit of a gamble but Wilder and Knill know what they want and in general appear have learned from the Leonard / Holmes failures.

Agreed on the calculated risk point. 3 in 58 is bad regardless of whether he only started 8 though. I just find it slightly strange that our record signing in the history of the club is a 'calculated risk'. I guess it shows the waters we're swimming in now and how small our money box is.

Pretty much every club in the PL will break their transfer record this window and we’ve not been in the PL for 12 years. We’ll probably break it again before the window closes. The market has gone up rapidly.
