Who should we sign in January?

What about Giles Barnes- think is contract has been terminated by mutual consent- worth a trial to see if he is over his injuries

St Ledger would be a good signing price might put us off though

Ive seen Jose Fonte mentioned in the Star. Not a player ive paid much attention to when playing Palace - that will probably depend on Kilgallon's situation.

I like George Boyd as well. If I thought for a second we could afford Wayne Routledge from QPR then I would blow the lot on him. Made a mug of Andy Taylor yesterday on numerous occasions. Looked sensational (apologies for the token cliche).

Quite a few players could make a mug of Taylor - he's not good enough
I believe Boyd would sort out the midfield going forward and Kallio could be a good bet for defence

As already mentioned, Routledge,Boyd and St Ledger would be great signings, but they wont happen. We will sign more loan crap, and regarding Andy Taylor...absolutely useless!

One decent performance against us [and that's all it was] means we must sign Routledge? What has he been doing for the rest of his career?

Anyone for Paul Ifill, Steve Kabba or Danny Webber? Sensational.

Dear Leader: "...if Killa stays, there's no money anyway so..."

WTF are you speculating for guys?

I guess some of us don't live in deep depression, see the strengths and look to the future. If I wanted to be negative I'd go after some other team. I stick with the idea of supporter - recognise our weaknesses but don't just dump on them to show how smart I am and how better they would be with me in charge. I know it wouldn't work. But otherwise - UTB!

Boyd is the only creative player I've seen at BDTBL this season who I would be looking to sign. Him and Williamson would be some midfield but I suspect Hoofball is not his style and Pboro would want too much as he's possibly their biggest asset.

I'd love us to have another wide player but as I don't think there are many better than Cotts at this level then this would seem a forlorn hope.

I heard Blackwell making this very point on RS this morning.

I have no problem if there is no money to spend but how does this fit with his comments that we need to do away with the ridiculous number of loan players and bring in some permananet ones.

The only criticism i will throw at the club is that the conflicting information released out of BDTBL breeds such bitter disappointment during each and every transfer window.

Start by saying there is no money to spend and then any signings are a bonus; flipping from one stance to the next in infuriating.

Ooooops! Silly me. I thought the thread was about who we should sign in January. I presumed that meant 2010. I also considered the fact that Blackwell says he has no money for signings to be relevant and the fact that I quoted him is difficult to interpret as dumping on the club. Maybe you can, in fact, take the information that our transfer cupboard is bare as an antidote to depression or indeed a strength. Buggered if I can.

Just which public face of the club would you have me support?

a) The McCabe version of Significant funds available which, considering his recent track record of well, let's call it obfuscation, shall we? is a hard one for me at the moment.

b) Blackwell's unambiguous statement that there is no money.

I just have the feeling that something is not quite right within sufc at present and that we are not being informed at all. This is the club's right. Why should the board keep me up to date on their deliberations and decisions? I do however, take exception to being fed bullshit and bollocks or even carefully worded statements which under examination mean precisely fuck all. I mean, just what does significant mean here, for instance? Either the club should shut the fuck up with regard to finances and transfers or tell us the truth. What they are doing right now is counterproductive and even alienating for some people. And yeah, even to some of those who, like me, support the team and have done for a hell of a long time.

given McLean is worth £4m and Boyd is the second coming anyone care to speculate wht Pboro are bottom of the league?

Having seen both McLean and Boyd play many times they would both improve our squad considerably. Boyd has lots of tricks, is creative, scores goals but lacks real pace. McLean is a decent finisher but is very similar to Billy - he needs the ball played into the penalty area from wide positions (I hope you're reading this Blackwell) and not lumped forward in the hope "the current big bloke" gets a flick on.
I'd rather us sign one or two (depending on whether Reid will ever get a chance to shine) quality wide players that can beat a man to be honest.

TB.

If I were kevin Blackwell I would look to sign a few more players that give 100% effort, but lack any footballing ability. Hence Cresswell would be top of my list. Another alternative of course would be to sign a player and play him completely out of position. Never mind footballing ability, just look for strength and effort.

In terms of names I'm not sure. But how difficult could it be? In a very average division that is often very difficult how difficullt could it be to find another carthorse who puts a lot of effort in. Alternatively we could look for a bruiser from the lower leagues. People keep mentioning this St ledger guy. He is obviuosuly the solution to our lack of cut throat-ness up front. Get him signed and lump it to him. What about signing Kalio and sticking him up front? Has anyone noticed he's the double of Peter Crouch?? Crouchy plays (and scores) for England, so why not stick bone crusher up front?

On the off chance that I make a decent signing I will almost certainly not play him or at the very least play him out of position. any players with real footballing ability should be shipped out of the club or left to rot on the bench or in the reserves.

I must be in the very small minority who thought Boyd was rubbish at the Lane. The gulf between how good he is, and how good he thinks he is, is enormous.

I agree, I thought Walker played him superbly.

He needs a good haircut, and by the looks of him he could do with standing nearer the soap when he showers too. Gone are the days of us signing scruffy twats.;)

Boyd, absolute quality even better in a better side

PS Reason Peterborough are bottom is their defence not midfield or attack
PPS Boyds haircut looks ok to me as for a wash I've not been that close!

Get him signed Blackwell!!!
