As a city fan I watched them relegated to the old 1st division. And then reach the dizzy heights we are at now with billions of pounds invested in the squad. So the blades are back in the premier league where they should be for me. I started watching Sufc a couple of years ago and I've been hooked ever since so my question to you all is if someone does invest million or billions into this great old club's squad . Which players would you sign but they must still fit in with the ethos ov the club hard work and togetherness. I know this is a hypothetical question but it's boring as shit without watching attacking football we all love

We might be able to afford Maupay then, so he might be one.
Seriously though, the thing with wilder is, he won't blow big bucks just to get a big name in.
I think he's more likely to carry on as we are, and signing up and coming talent, I doubt we'll ever be in the same position as yourselves or Liverpool or Man u, we just need cement our place in the prem first, hopefully starting by staying up this season and then building on that.
Also, I think the best possible signings the new owners could make, would be Wilder and Knilly on long term deals, give them backing, and see exactly what they can do!

Welcome to the forum Mcfc blade

To be able to have that much money to spend on players would be like living the dream, but with Wilder as our manager, he spends money on players like it is his own.

The most important thing is to get the right person in, if that player didn't cost that much he would go for them rather than wasting money on someone just because they cost more and run the risk of them not gelling in the team.

The team would come first rather than an individual.

Wilder is for me doing the right thing at the moment, buying the best players from the Championship, we would have to get established in the Premier League before we could attract a higher calibre of players.

Rather than specific players, there are types of players that I would still like to see as the core and soul of the club/team. I would like to see players playing for the shirt. Players desperate to get into the first 11 and not being content to sit out a contract on mega bucks just because... well they can. I would like to see players play with pride and give everything for the cause. For what it's worth, I think Man City, under Guardiola (and Liverpool under Klopp) do now have this type of ethos and it's good to see.

What I would hate is if we moved from the Lane. I remember Maine Road on a buzzing midweek night under the floodlights, loads of beer, the smell of food and smoke in the air etc. I actually feel sorry for the old time City fans these days.

I'm like Jekyll and Hyde on this though lol .... sometimes I think .... Give me the trophies and ill eat the prawn sandwiches and clap politely. Then I think ....pack me in like a sardine, feed me shit burgers and ale, and I'll go mental when we score a 90th minute winner in a meaningless game :p

I wonder if wilder found 2 very similar players, one was slightly better, stronger, faster and let's say early twenties, other is mid twenties but £7 million, first player is £18 million which would he go for I wonder?

Now that we're in the Premier League, I'd rather we didn't have someone coming in with Millions or Billions, just someone to run the club properly, or should i say, continue running the club in the way that we are being run at the moment.

The owners have their dispute, but they are seemingly agreeing to an extent as there are funds being made available for transfers (record transfer broken last season and then again twice this season)

I really don't want us to become a Man City or a Chelsea, i like the way we are. So in terms of transfers, keep doing what we're doing, buy younger, hungry players from the Championship and surplus from Premier League Clubs. Rough diamonds that we can polish.

I'd also like the club to attract more Kids into our academy and develop them ourselves. We've had great success bringing on players like Michael Tonge, Jagielka, Brooks, where they came to us after being released elsewhere and of course the likes of Naughton and Walker are great examples of those able to come all the way through.

The great old club, as you call us, should remain that. No need to move to a new stadium, we love our ground and the pubs around by it. Just develop it to a 40k ground by doing the Kop and South Stand upgrades.

So it would be great to progress by spending the Premier League money well, trying to maintain our British and Irish squad and pushing as high as we can go.

Swiss spot on. MCFC Blade I know a few City fans and naturally they are delighted about the success but some are still nostalgic for the Kippax and the alley ways of Moss Side and players like Foden playing every week not every now and again.

As a.club I dont believe we will ever go down the mega bucks route. All most of us here yearn for is the ability to keep hold of our best players ( imagine our side this season with McGuire, Walker and Brooks in it) and to have the money to sign the occasional big.bucks player as Wilder sees fit.

Spending that extent of money above and beyond earned income was the making of Man City and a few others but ruined our sport.

FFP rules came in too late and are hard to enforce, indeed act to preserve the position of clubs like Man City who have done it already.

Anyway, what's done is done and we are where we are.

We've performed miracles to get where we are. This next level demands a step change in approach and Wilder could manage that in the dressing room.

We can spend money on quality without recruiting mercenaries or spoiling the 'togetherness' and the style of play. To avoid the need to 'park the bus' and go 'toe to toe' we need that extra quality to turn possession into the goal reward it deserves.

The crucial time is now, not after the change of ownerhip. August 10th is too late.

As others have said, I'd want us to carry on signing players for the team, not the individual. A football player earns an incredible amount of money and should see it as a massive privilage, whoever they play for.

I also hope whoever takes over looks after Wilder for as long as is reasonable. He built this and should be given his chance to keep it going, he typifies everything the club is about at the minute and theres never been such a great connect between the team and fans, that kind of connect is so valuable and shouldn't be overlooked or underestimated.

As for the big bucks, providing we still adhere to the above I'd be happy to have money thrown at it. The point of any competition is to want to win and be the best, Wilder is a prudent custodian of the purse strings but I'm pretty sure that given the chance, he'd welcome the opportunity to compete at the very highest level, as would the rest of the fans. To do that in the modern football world you have to pay the big bucks.

Welcome to the Forum. Long shot, but you dont live in Newcastle now do you?

No I'm a manc through and through with a soft spot for Sufc the kings of the underdogs for reasons I can't go into 😉

Experience at times, youth at other times - Robinson and Freeman for example.

Priorities of any millionaire owner...

First things first get the Academy up to the highest category level and get hoovering up the best players in Yorkshire and stop other big clubs (ahem City, Man U, etc) mining the rich seam of Sheffield football.

Second, bang in a big safe standing section on the Kop. Concentrate on making BDTBL a difficult place for opposition to come to and sweep up the younger generations of football fans (and let the pigs rot). Let’s reverse the trend of the average age of season ticket holders getting up to retirement age in the PL.

Third, get decent locks on the Kop bogs - if one was minded to take a dump, you’re at high risk of being bothered by a nose powderer.

Players - keep the British and Irish core, follow the general principles established by CWAK (signing captains from other clubs, hungry players, players with something to prove) and get them built into the fabric of the club as our identity.

Well said, SwissBlade - spot on, IMO.

I'd personally be looking for progress in our own terms, from our own starting point. Starting with maintaining premier league status and then one day building the infrastructure of the club, improve the Kop, improve the Pukka Pies corner, invest in the academy. I'd want us to be competing for promising British talent e.g. Adams and homegrown players with the right attitude e.g. Coady. The Leicester brand is a good one to look at: Maguire, Chilwell, Barnes, Gray - exciting football.

If the Prince wins he isn’t selling.
Fact or guess ? I do wonder whether the Saudis would pump a lot of money in if he wins. They would have a ready made premiership side without having to pay hundreds of millions to own one.

to answer the question directly - i’d try and get kyle walker back, not just cus hes a blade, but he ticks all the boxes, works hard with no prima donna attitude. Maybe James Milner as well, class professional.

Funnily enough i cant think of anyone else standout to sign, mostly i’d want to give wilder a nice big contract, I’d also seriously consider taking on the whole of Brentfords scouting team... they seem to be doing something right!

i’d do up the training grounds and academy to a state of the art level, expand bramall lane to a world class level national stadium (tottenham levels), i’d mainly want a focus on getting the best youth players in the world in, and instill the ethos in them that way, if we can have generations of players who adear to the philosophy, then all the better

oh and ribery

I hope our owners... the custodians of our club read this thread

I've got a lot of time for old school Citeh fans, despite the Moss Side alleys around Maine Road being very dodgy.

I remember after Tevezgate, Citeh's first game of the season was away at Upton Park. The Citeh fans spent most of the game singing;
"We should be at Bramall Lane "

The difference in the man city takeover to some others is money has been spent on building up the ground and training facilities etc meaning one day the club might actually turn a profit.

Meanwhile Chelsea have a good academy set up but are now in a dated small ( for a top 6 club) ground.

I'd like a little extra spending power but we need new training/academies set up and the ground could do with some TLC and expanding.

Yes my good man I was there that day

I didn't want to mention what the have done for that and the community around the ground

If I had a few billion.

Stage One: Status, academy, community - Obviously cementing ourselves in the Premier League is a priority, so spending to help that, contracts for CWAK, players, fees. Academy upgrades or a new build, state of the art, cryo chambers etc like the ones Man City have - your academy is glorious having watched that Amazon Prime show. And community, it'd cost relatively little to start improving the areas and community around Bramall Lane and Sheffield in a wider sense. Sponsoring local sports teams, more money to youth development, maybe buy a few bits of land and put some maintained pitches on them and have them have led training sessions every so often, more help for the causes we're linked to. Would help the causes and improve United's reputation and engender support and maybe we'd discover the next big name.

Free stuff to fans on special occasions like City and Leicester do, better food in the concourses. All improves image.

Stage Two: Critical ground improvements - Kop Corner, pull it down. Kop, pull it down and rebuild with the corner integrated better. Do it back to front and chuck some money at it so it's minimally intrusive. Build between South and Kop, TV Studio (a proper one) and disabled supporters section like the one Burnley are building.

Stage Three: Non-critical ground improvements - second tier on the South, media viewing area back middle, and VIP boxes left and right in between the two tiers. Do up the front of the ground, and level off the car park. Rebuild the Pavilion where it once stood as the museum and a VIP bar. Proper names on the stands like Old Trafford.

Investigate extending BL top tier over the road.

Build Wilder and Bill statues in the carpark.

Kyle Walker back for the RCB slot.
Dean Henderson on a permanent.

Can I ask Mcfc blade what the City fans think of Kyle Walker ?
My personal opinion is going forward he is 1 of the best that is when he hasn't got his shooting head on. But going the other way and his positioning when defending he scares me

Don’t often take an opposing view swizzler but I don’t think even CW could keep the magic up on a shoe string for more than one season. I’m of a mind we should go with a sqillionaire and let Wilder shop in Harrods.
Or would it need a new manager to shop there?

It comes down to interpretation, but here is how i see things
Bassett operated on a shoestring
Warnock operated on a shoestring

Wilder no longer operates on a shoestring, its debatable whether he ever has at United. Just because the players he's brought in have been low cost, it doesn't mean that he's brought in cheap players.

Norwood, McG, Fleck, JOC, Duffy, Stevens, Baldock, even Egan... all of these have been brought in for much less than the worth that they now have. However, they have comfortably operated at the level they were brought into and also the level above in some cases.

We will now see if these players, the players that we already had before Wilder (Billy, Freeman, Bash etc) can operate in the top division. We will also see if the top championship performers that he has signed, can also do the same. Lots of questions of course

However, my point was that we have just won £100million from promotion, we won't do a Fulham and spend all that in one season. So it leaves more money if we stay up and whatever we earn in subsequent seasons.

We won't spend £100m every season, we're bringing in younger players, we're making ourselves sustainable. So whilst Billionaires will bring in Billions, i don't think its something we need with the Premier League earnings.

Cheers pal. Is he quite as scary at the back as John Stones ? Gives me nightmares for England !
