Neal Maupay

When Bees signed Konsa from Charlton, it was in the face of serious interest from several much bigger clubs, inc PL. One of the reasons he chose us was because it is now widely known that the club provides better opportunity for career progression than eg merely making up a number in a 50-man reserve squad at some PL club.

Part of this is the assurance that so long as we receive due recognition for our part in his development, we won't stand in the way of players if a genuinely better opportunity comes his way. In Konsa's case, I'm pretty sure his Agent will have negotiated a £12m release fee for him, otherwise he wouldn't have signed for us, which is fair enough.

Either way, from £2.5m to £12m (plus sell-on?) in just one season represents excellent business by anyones standards.

And yes, any sale of Konsa, even for so "low" a fee as £12m, makes it easier for us to resist offers for Maupay (or at least drive a much harder bargain)
That's fine as long as all you ever want to be is The Chumpionship's version of Crewe.

Brentford fans, what does signing these 2 Danish midfielders mean for Josh Dasilva?

We should gazump all Brentford transfers from now on, if only to wind them and their fans up.

He will be starting the season in a stronger squad than last season, providing we keep 1of either Maupay and Benrahma.

Don’t think you have the scouting intelligence or the money to do that but dream om
Just fuck off!

How on earth do you have the balls to come on here and act superior to us?

Go back to your own forum and discuss the possibility of finishing higher than 11th place or something.

How you can come on here with this superiority complex is completely baffling.

I hope your shit little club goes bust. Cunt.

🤣🤣

Not had your morning coffee yet?

No idea - I reckon Jensen is Sawyers' replacement a they seem to be quite similar in style. This could open up a spot for JDS.

Worse mate.

Not had any kip at all due to a power outage in Pefkos, so the room was like a sauna.

Then coming back on here to find that the intolerable Bees are back in force with their high and mighty attitude.

I’m off for a Mythos...

At least you’re not in Halkidiki mate after reading the news this morning.

As for the Brentford lot, they’re probably still laughing at us for signing O’Connell and Egan...

Sawyers and Mokotjo likely to leave? I'd really try to avoid that. Proven players who know the league and the club.

Dasilva looks to have everything in his locker and I thought he'd be one of the big revelations of the season. Looks harder for him to get in the team now though.

I’ve only just seen that mate, terrible news.

They’re a bitter old bunch aren’t they?

There was one Bee earlier in this thread extolling their journey from buying £500k players and selling them for £2m to buying players for £3.25m and selling them for £12m. John Egan was mentioned in the former category without a hint of awareness of the irony that we've put him well and truly in the latter. Bought for £3.5m, he'd be worth £15m+ now.

Arf,

PS: Bill the bee you're letting the side down pal. Wind your neck in.

Villa being mentioned on an increasing basis re Maupay it seems. They've only signed 1 forward ao far and seem to be spending in Fulham like proportions. If it ends up between us and Villa then I wouldn't be hopefull based on their no doubt higher wage structure and the Dean Smith link.

7 months and you still ain’t bid

Yet another 2 transfers done today with Konsa going to Villa for 12 mill and Jensen confirmed at Brentford that’s how business is done no “it’s imminent bollox”You need to ask someone of importance if your club want him as they ain’t taking much notice of this now 138 page thread.
Juan Kerr post.....

Anybody surprised by some of the Bee fans comments here should re-read Roygbiv View from first game of the season in 2017. Some were ok but I remember thinking at the time that others were very Pork-ish.

If he wants to go to Villa, he can crack on. Imagine it'd be because they're paying a fee and/or wages we wouldn't be comfortable stumping up. And that's fine by me. I'd rather we didn't spend ourselves into trouble, like they're potentially doing.

'intolerable bees'. I like that. I hope someone can work it into a song for when we play them next, which we no doubt will one day

The risk of Brentford selling another player for big money was always there when we failed to close out a deal. Imo it’s makes their position stronger unless maupay looks at the key assets being sold again and pushes for a move.

We really need to get a move on. I’m sure no one saw jagielka and freeman being our only moves with less than a month of the window to go?

I think this is now a dead rubber - we are clearly still skint until the court case has been dealt with, which is really frustrating.....4 weeks to go and we’ve spent £4m - which is probably money from the sell on clauses that we would have spent being in the champ. The chairmen of this board are a disgrace.

That's fine as long as all you ever want to be is The Chumpionship's version of Crewe.
Crewe were a 4th tier side which punched way above their weight for a while (Dario Gradi, basically), but have since reverted to the mean.

During the same period, Bees were a solid 3rd tier side: hope for promotion in a good year, struggle against relegation in a bad one, but basically going nowhere much. But as the 21st century dawned, developments in the game (money, stadia, support etc) meant that if anything, we were likely to drop into the 4th, and from there out of the league entirely - see Leyton Orient, for example.

Step forward Matthew Benham and we have been completely transformed from top to bottom, so that by the time we move to the new stadium next season, we can confidently consider ourselves to be an established 2nd tier club.

Which means we're really only an exceptional season or two away from the PL - shades of Sheff U, perhaps?

Anyhow, most Bees fans can see the progress which is being made, appreciate that it can't all be done all at once, and in the meantime are enjoying some of the best football any of us can remember.

Now where were we again? Crewe was it?

I think not. ;)

They sure showed us!

You basically said you were a 'developing players then moving them on to better things' club, exactly as Crewe have been for the 20/30 years. Crewe have dabbled with the higher division and then sunk back quickly but as yet, you haven't stepped up to the Prem. You may well do in the next couple of years, but as it stands, you are the Chumpionships Crewe :)
