I can see why some of the Brentford fans might be getting a bit tetchy, they’re more than likely going to end up being our permanent feeder club. 🤣

A one, two
A one, two, three, four
Half a bee, philosophically
Must, ipso facto, half not be
But half the bee has got to be
A vis-a-vis its entity, d'you see?
But can a bee be said to be
Or not to be an entire bee
When half the bee is not a bee
Due to some ancient injury?
Singing
A laa dee dee, a one two three
Eric, the half a bee
A, B, C, D, E, F, G
Eric, the half a bee
Is this wretched demi-bee
Half asleep upon my knee
Some freak from a menagerie?
No! It's Eric, the half a bee
A fiddle de dum, a fiddle de dee
Eric, the half a bee
Hoh…
This literally had me pissing myself

Please, post more.

I’m a fan of the way Brentford go about things. Good luck to you. You’ve done what you’ve needed to do in the last 2 seasons in this window and bought a defence. I think you’ll enjoy Pinnock more than Pontus,.

Be funny as if they signed another CB called Pilot.

I agree with you on liking how Brentford go about things.

I hope it doesn’t turn out like Watford did if so!

We took Currie, Eddy and Scullion off them. 3 fine players. Then went back for Colin Franks!

Sorry, I hadn't realised that. I thought we'd signed a player who was was named in both the EFL Team of the Season and Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season in his debut season in the Championship (2016/17). And who then played for Sweden in the Quarter Finals of the World Cup in 2018 (he's now their captain, btw). Who had a bid of £10m by a Russian club turned down by Leeds after the World Cup. And who went on to be voted into the PFA Team of the Year 2018/19.

Anyhow, assuming we're not talking about two completely different players, I think the club must be saying something, since we never usually sign players his age (28) on a 3 year contract (with 1 year option) for that sort of money (£4m, rising to a possible £5.5m).

I can only think that along with the signing of another big unit of a CB in Pinnock of Barnsley, our manager has decided to address head-on our biggest failing of recent seasons, namely that we are a small side, who can sometimes be bullied out of a result by physical teams who wouldn't normally merit it purely on the quality of their play. (Which is a criticism of us, not them btw, since there is no single, prescribed way of playing the game).

We'll see how it works out.

I actually think he'll be a decent signing for you guys. One thing Brentford lack is leaders and players with balls and character. Jansson will provide that.

He's no John Egan or Jack O'Connell though! ;)

Fuck "cordial welcome"

Bill the bee is a full weight wanksplatcockwomble CUNT

In the immortal (&final) words of Captain L E G Oates

"I am just going outside and may be some time ......... Kin ell it's brassic art ere"

I'll miss (most of) you folk.........farewell

Don't do it MNISL, stay within the bosom of your friends.

'We sold Egan because he didn't fit into our Barcelona esque, footballing play style.'

*signs Pontus Jansson*

Well I'm glad Brentford's financial status has been cleared up for me 🙄
There's no smoke without fire and there's an awful lot of Brentford fans on a Sheff U forum for some reason??
If we take away the financial side of it all. Does Maupay fancy a shot in the Premiership? I think every footballer wants to play on (arguably) the biggest stage in club football.
Does he think he can shoot Brentford up this year?
Maybe?
I think the odds are heavily stacked with the Premiership team in these matters, we were lucky to hold onto O'Connell last year, on most occasions we've lost that battle.

Stop it !

I don't want to be reminded of the earlier incarnation of Jay McEveley thanks , I have enough problems dealing with my Chris Guthrie nightmares .

Not sure about last season but apparently in season 16/17, Brentford lost £4m over the season despite player sales of £18m.
Your business model seems to rely on sales even to lose a bearable amount, especially if you've already spent £15m

Ah, but does Mr. Biggs know how much BFC have received from last season's transfer dealings (with more to come in add-ons and sell-ons etc)?

I understand that last year's transfer dealings produced more than was originally budgeted for - eg I doubt many believe Mepham would go to the PL for quite so much, quite so soon (50-odd appearances, just turned 21, £12m+)

Tbh, I'd actually have said NM was more likely to go to SU before we signed Pontus Janssen, than since, despite the outlay.

This is because our owner may just have decided that this is the season we can "go for it and signing PJ was a statement of intent.

In any case, even if Bees do have still to balance the books via a big sale, I have a sneaky feeling that we might sell Konsa (CB) instead of Maupay, since we have now signed Pinnock (highly rated Barnsley CB) as well as PJ.

Konsa (I think) was the only Championship player in England's recent U-21 teams and is v.highly thought of.

And if Wan Bissaka can fetch £50m-odd from MU, when Konsa is the same age and has twice as many U-21 caps, then he's got to be worth a few bob.
That's fair enough from the club's point of view.

How about the player?

Spend another season kicking around in the Championship in a shirt career when a club can offer me top level football and I can double my wages?
