We ain't got a scooby who offered what to whom and when and whyfore...so take an easy chair and see what happens ..no fucker on here is itk on this one ...that's the only fact !

So Foxy has said that there is more than one offer on the table for Maupay, we don't know if that's personal terms, transfer fee, add-ons or what but there is more than one offer to collectively consider. It may be that the personal terms we have put forward are acceptable, (although knowing Agents they are never acceptable whilst there is a possibility of something better) and it is the structure of the deal that is not attractive, (small amount up front, installments, etc).

Or it could be like Waghorn, we have put our terms forward and they are stalling to see if someone else can beat them, (which Derby did with Waghorn)….if that's the case, we know we offer peanuts in comparison so JL94x4 may indeed get this one right!!
Broken clock and all that.

Sounds like a fee has been negotiated, based on RC’s recent post, despite no formal ‘approach’ or bid.

Agent playing hardball.

Agent will very much want the deal to happen. They are so pivotal these days. In many cases the buying club will simply tell the leeches how much they are prepared to spend on the player over a defined period. Fee, wages, bonuses the lot and then leave the agent to sort out with the selling club how that will be divided up, often to his advantage. Of course selling club may say no deal in which case Mr Leech goes back to buying club and the wheel turns again..

No wonder it takes so long but sadly, the leech is at the very heart of it.

Unfortunately, a neccessary evil although they do seem to hold too much power over the whole deal. The alternative is owner's/chairman sorting out deals, and we all know where that would lead

Patience, CW will catch our fish

I am beginning to think that we won`t get Maupay, (assuming CW was in for him in the first place). I would love us to sign him because he looks the real deal on his efforts last season; and for a club like Brentford to pay a French 2nd division club £1.6 million for him tells its own tale. I reckon that if Villa manage to offload Hogan, then Maupay will end up there.

Yes, it’s the same free lance veteran journalist Michael Morgan, who is currently attached to The Sun.
He was interviewed by Alan Biggs on Sheffield Live the other year, he’s knows loads about Sheffield football and has attended both grounds from the early 70’s.
In the interview he makes a jokey insult towards Sheff Wed, so assume Morgan might be a Blade.
Yes, he is a Blade. There was an article about him in a programme a few years ago. A friend of TC's I believe.

(Re. DaveBlade # 2380, above)
According to Pontus himself (article in Swedish newspaper), Leeds sold him because they needed to raise money/reduce their wage bill for FFP reasons. If so, then they're in no position to bid for Maupay.

Of course he also fell out with Bielsa over that "gift goal" and publicly snubbed Radizzani at ER after an earlier game, but still, those don't have to be the only reasons they sold him (solve 2 problems in 1 go)

Villa, Palace, Burnley, Leicester, West Ham all potential dangers to Utd landing him and all able to gazump the offer
He’s not very tall though. I can’t see any of those looking at him apart from maybe Leicester as they tend to go for big strikers. West Ham are chasing Gomez who’s well over six foot. They are looking to get rid of Hernandez. Palace seem to want a Benteke replacement (talk of Wickham being their main man), Burnley have just signed Rodriguez.

BREAKING NEWS
Sky sources understand the deal to take Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez to West Ham United is off.
West Ham offered the £45m release clause to the Spanish club but could not agree a payment structure.
Gomez is now closing in a move to Valencia. He is expected in Spain tomorrow to finalise the move.
Valencia have offered cash plus players to seal his signature."

Could they turn their attention to Maupay? They probably need to buy two strikers too with Carroll and Arnautovic leaving and trying to offload Hernandez. Would leave them only with Hugill I believe.

In all fairness I think they’ll set their sights a bit higher than a champo forward. They love a name.

They have shit loads of attacking options at the moment.

Anderson, Fornals, Yarmolenko, Hugill, Antonio, Hernandez, Lanzini, Diangana.

Grandted only Lanzini, hernandez and hugill are out and out strikers, but arnautovic wasn't, but he played up there. Personally I don't think they need to replace him, they have enough when you consider the above.

I'm holding my breath like everybody else, hoping this transfer goes through (which I think it will) but I can't help imagining how embarrassing and depressing this thread will look if it turns out the Brentford fans on here were correct and Wilder hasn't even considered signing him or an approach hasn't even been made. 😅😅

Welbeck would be such a West Ham signing on a free

And we sneak McBurnie in for £10million.

True,
When ever lower end PL have bought the top performing Championship players, those players have been quite poor and struggled to make the step up.
Last season Vydra was the top scorer in the league, Burnley bought him, he scored 1 goal all season in the PL.
Reid was also one of the highest scorers in the league. Cardiff bought him from Bristol C, Reid also didn’t score many last season in the PL.
Dwight Gale is always a top striker in the Championship but always poor in the PL.

Most fans of PL clubs don’t rate Championship strikers. They only tend to buy them as future prospects.
West Ham need immediate 1st team strikers who are tried and tested top flight players, preferably internationals.
Maupay doesn’t fit their requirement.
Also the Brentford price is on the high side, not many PL clubs will spend 20 million on someone who has little chance of being a 1st teamer.
At most PL clubs Maupay would be classed as just a future prospect with great potential.

Many top flight fans think we are targeting Maupay and McBurnie because we know we’ll be relegated
And we have confidence that those 2 will be excellent in the Championship, so we can go for instant promotion back to the PL again.

West Ham don't tend to shop in the championship. They prefer to spend rediculous amounts of money on French division 2 footballers no-one has ever heard of & premier league cast-offs.

Also, they have absolutely no idea who to buy or why to buy them. Zero structure to their approach to recruitment & seemingly entirely reliant on single players "changing the game" for them to do well.

When that doesn't work, they're bobbins.

Anderson - Winger
Fornals - Midfielder
Yarmolenko - Winger
Hugill - Striker who scored 6 in 37 in the championship last year
Antonio - No idea where he plays, certainly not a lone striker
Hernandez - Striker who they are trying to offload
Lanzini - Midfielder
Diangana - Never heard of him but apparently he is a winger

They clearly feel they need a striker seen as they were trying to sign Maxi Gomez. Hopefully they don't target Maupay but I am struggling to think of who else they could go for.

They have signed Fredericks, Hugill and Fabianski all from Championship clubs in the past two years, I wouldn't be surprised if they went for Maupay

Moyes bought Hugill though didn't he? Moyes is more likely to shop in the English league system than Pellegrini. Also they were flirting with relegation at the time, so it might have been a bit of future proofing.

And Fabianski wasn't bought from a Championship club, he was rescued from a relegated Premier League club, never played in the Champ.

West Ham will go for Sturridge or Welbeck IMO. Maybe Calum Wilson.

Fredericks? I can't let you have Fulham being a Premier League club and Swansea being a Premier League club ;)
