I think we want him but it seems we’re still not prepared to pay what it takes to get decent quality players. Difficult to accept in the Championship but no excuse for it now, with the Premier League millions. We should have done our business early and got the players bedded in during pre-season.

I’m not suggesting spending all the money, as Fulham did, but I think with 2 or 3 quality additions we would have a good chance of staying up, which would pay for these transfers several times over.

Even if we spent £20m on Maupay, he would probably be worth more than that in 12 months after a season in the Premier League - so if McCabe is still in charge then (please no) he could still cash in as he normally does.

I said none of those things. I’ve been following the game and United in particular, for over fifty years. I know how it works. I know how business works. I know how the world works. You, young man, are one sad bastard! Why is the speculation of an opposing team causing you so much excitement and why do you presume to know exactly how it will all pan out. Banana man or not you have no idea and pretending that you do makes you look needy and a little bit stupid! Your club is punching above its weight and is set up to sell. I for one and grateful of this business model as we, as a club, have benefited enormously. Would hate to support a club set up in this way though - no heart, no substance and going nowhere. What took you so long? You normally respond to anything I say about McCabe within about 2 mins.

I’ve posted about numerous topics on here. I love the Blades but don’t like McCabe. Bizarre that you can’t accept that.

We're very fearful. We live in hope and with some of the signings we are making, we would love to persuade him him to give us more season. There is no doubt that he has a lot of affection for the club. Realistically though, he's got a very busy agent and he'll be gone if someone comes up with our valuation. Someone's got to be brave enough to find £20m+ though.

I think theres talks ongoing, but an official bid won't have been made. More than likely it'll be an enquiry, then a deal. Then the bid follows. So the manager is probably right that an official "bid" hasn't been made.

We do not take collective responsibility for knobheads who like to peddle ITK bollox. Similarly blokes "close to the owner" generally know half a story if that. We've got one here who is strangely silent following last years pronouncements.

If it happens it happens, but I will have a teeny weeny bet that (a) it won't happen because we don't like getting ripped off, or (b)if it does, it will be for less than you think.

Have a good season but remember not to get up your own arses. It's not attractive. X

I gather the only talks that have happened has been between Maupay's agent and Sheff U or someone acting for Sheff U. There's been no contact between the clubs. That's not an illegal approach btw - an agent can talk to whoever he or she likes. If Sheff U make a bid that Brentford accept, Maupay will hop on a plane back from Austria knowing that a package is already in place. He's the one who signs the contract though so there'll be other things he'll want to be happy about. I'm convinced this will run for a while yet and would be amazed if other clubs aren't in exactly the same place as you..

An agent wouldnt necessarily know what the club wants for his player.
They could only negotiate personal terms really.
