Has Les or Banana mentioned Maupay was at the game tonight in a non playing capacity? Cba to read the entire last 30 pages to find out.

Ultimately if he signs the ITKers on here were right if not they were wrong. I personally hope we sign him because I rate him and think he can get even better. If not C’est la vie and hopefully we get someone as good.
Brentford are irrelevant to me unless we play them. We have got some good players from them and I’m grateful for that. They do need to decide what they are though (as my good friend who supports them agrees). Are they happy being mid table championship whose business model is to buy cheap and sell for profit or are they going to build and really go for promotion ?
What happens with Maupay could be telling.

They are and always will be a small club of little consequence. They may have come into a bit of money but they will ultimately find their level. Division Three is about right.

Not that I've seen. Read the last 30 pages though. It's been an amazing night

Well it's been a blast. Good luck for next season. Shame about the wankers. And mods, well done for looking after the thread so well.

Just having a quick read, what do you suggest we should have done?

My favourite part of Brentford away was when the fans sang 'come on Brentford' 3 times every 7 minutes.... And that's it

It would be a pretty shit pub for me to do that. And then it would be because the poor behaviour of the locals.

We get fans from other clubs on here with whom we build good relationships. We aren’t unwelcoming.

But you and Les have arrived this evening stating “facts” which you have made no attempt to corroborate. We don’t even allow that from our own, which a brief glance through the “movement” thread will demonstrate.

So forgive us if we regard you as having an agenda around losing your star player. You haven’t been particularly respectful and you haven’t backed up your “facts”.

And your new ground looks weird.

How you can possibly criticise Foxy and Linz when your home forum is in the state it’s in I don’t know.

So anyway, jog on and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. You’ll not be missed

Depends how things go after their stadium move. They are an established Championship club now and could build like Bournemouth. They should really have made a better fist of it these last few seasons with the players they have had though.

How about go & post on their own clubs forum?? I try not to post too much but read alot. & it seems they are panicking a little bit. Thanks.

Too much competition in the area. Brighton have Sussex sewn up. Bournemouth are living the dream for the moment. London hasn’t noticed Brentford.

Bournemouth too I’m afraid. They are having seasons in the sun. I’m pleased for them but they should make the best of it. Sooner rather than later they’ll both be back where they came from watched by five figure crowds. It’s just the way it is. Give it four or five years.

Every season I think they’re going to go for it and every year they sell their best players. Their record of finding gems again is excellent but they can only rely on that so long. At some stage they have to build a team for the long term and go for it but currently seem reluctant to do that. Being a London club brings lots of advantages but they don’t seem to be using that to the best effect.

They have a world class scouting operation and can source good players for fun but that doesn’t equate to building a team. And their annual turnover of players, because they need the transfer fees as part of their business plan, also gravitates against building a team. Its all very short term, from season to season.

I do like them as a club though.

I actually quite like Brentford as a club. But since we got promoted to the Championship we’ve played them 4 times & they’ve took 1 point off us. That plus the fact that they’ve been in the Championship 4/5 years (sorry cant be arsed to look) & are still there. We waltzed through it in 2 years.

TTFN. See you in 12 months when we are raiding you again. Keep up the good work, Brentford are a useful little feeder club.

I like the way go about things and the football they play. It would be frustrating being a fan of them though. They are so close every year but never quite get it together.

I wouldn't let a few online mad heads with a frankly bizarre sense of self importance put you off the club as a whole.

Not sure. Possibly. But there’s a new order with the way that the PL and associated money has skewed things. Attendances & history matter less. Wealthy owners and sustaining in the PL beyond 2 seasons counts for a lot. If you have a source of wealth beyond the PL riches and have good management, football & business, (Bournemouth, Watford) I think you can consolidate up there long term. But you need both.

What is cba? It’s certainly a professional organisation of which I am a member but it doesn’t make any sense in that context.

A polite request please to save the text speak for texting. It’s not whether I like it or not (I abhor it in fact), it’s that it’s both discourteous to your audience and contrary to the forum rules. It’s happening more and more and it lowers standards. The English language has a rich and voluminous vocabulary, both robust and nuanced, capable of dealing with almost every literary need. Let’s use it.

I dont Roy. I actually quite fancy them to do well next season & hope they do. Despite who they sell they always seem to do okay & we were very lucky to beat them at the Lane in March. I cant believe though that apart from the freeby 1-0 win at Bolton they were given that they only managed to win away at Rotherham all season!!

I laughed out loud at this. I'm not gonna lie

I understand that argument Nick and it’s a tenable one.

I’m a bit of a traditionalist so far as football is concerned, me (“you don’t say”) and I see nouveau riche clubs as a sort of economic bubble waiting to burst. Once they do, they will have little or nothing to fall back on.

Its also a bewilderingly ambiguous language though (thankfully, for my living) and lacks the certainty of text language, which leaves no room for nuance. A lot to be said for minimalism and utilitarianism in language.
