12 mill would be a good deal for Brentford. Little less than Che went for who scored a very similar amount of goals in a far worse attacking side and was at a bigger club that vcould hold out for more money too.

Thinking they can get anything up towards 20 mill upfront is utterly delusional

As much as I'd like to believe we're getting him for £12m, you're probably right with that.

Sadly, it would have to be £20m+ to have any chance IMO and I'd be really surprised if paid that for one player.

All sorts of fees are quoted for the same deal when a player is transferred. It could perfectly possibly be £12m plus very substantial add-ons that we will be more than happy to pay, because the contingencies giving rise to the add-ons will bring us even greater wealth.

I think it’s time we realised there is no rigid budget of £20m or any other specific figure. If Tufty can get MAM he will be allowed to do so, even if it takes us beyond what was expected. He made it very clear his priorities were TWO strikers and a number ten. That won’t have changed and there’s only two strikers in the two horse race and both can win. It’s a funny old race...

If we're honest. Brentford do tend to get good prices for their players, add that maupay has had a fantastic season and it adds to the price. Still think we'll get him though. Wanted us to sign him last season, but doubted we'd get him.

I think they've been good at exploiting stupid clubs in the past... Brum, Villa, Bournemouth...
