Good signing on a number of levels.

Seems a good price when you look at what other top championship players are going for.
Gives us a nice dilemma and another option with Duffy for who plays in that role behind the front 2 seems perfect fit for our system.
Ben Bloom makes a good point that it's the type of player who would be improving the squad and providing stability if we come back down.

Freeman is the future. Quality signing who I think can make the step up.

Ehh the squad we had and loved is gradually moving on , some fantastic players and some magic moments , I will always love Duff for "that goal" that day was magical !

Personally the timing of freeman is everything and one which needed to be done as soon as possible. The Duffy role is really a huge art and nobody seems to have mastered it. Finding pockets, creating the CB overlaps. It really is a pivotal position

Also a position we haven't recruited this early on in pre-season. Ben Woodburn retrospectively didn't have much chance to learn the role properly.

I don’t get your point. Freeman is a creative midfielder and his assist stats are outstanding. McBurnie is a striker who will surely benefit from having him in the team.

It wasn’t a comparison. My point at the time was that he was 27 and nobody else in the premier league had ever taken a chance on him. I’m not saying he’s shit but is he good enough? Yes his stats are more than decent but so were Leon’s 2 seasons ago. Happy to trust Wilder though. We’ve all been proven wrong at some point and I’ll happily eat humble pie

What a truly brilliant signing. Bags of excitement, great price, great age, long-term replacement for Duffy, ready now. He's been a quality player for years too, remember him terrorising us for Stevenage all those years ago!

If Wilder’s been chasing him for so long I think we can rest probably easy that he should do the biz. There’s no guarantee though with any untried player at a higher level including McBurnie, and we’re not really in the market for established tried and tested Premier League players yet are we? I think cherry picking the best from the Championship is probably the best we can muster right now and (IMO) Freeman certainly fits that bill.
