Plenty of hurdles? What's the problem? Cadette said almost done, never mentioned we have to jump plenty more hurdles.
Football Contracts are very complex beasts. Last I heard we were very hopeful but still work to do.

If I had to put money on it I’d bet a fair amount on it that he’ll be a blade within the next 2 weeks.

It's that what worries me, surely personal terms do not take that long to iron out unless Brentford still haven't agreed a fee?

How far on is McBurnie? Any news on him?

Probably the agent being an arsehole, rather than Maupay trying to decide on anything.

These rumours about attacking players are all well and good but we desperately need some defensive rumours.
Enda needs a rival for his place, Baldock/Freeman need to be improved on and sadly Bash is probably not going to be such a hero in this league.
Midfield probably needs improving too.
I know the season doesn't start for quite a while but things really need to start moving very soon.

We had the best defence in the championship by a distance. Egan O’Connell and Stevens are all premier league quality and Basham has played in the premier league. The only question mark is baldock but I’d back him to step up. Any defensive players should be free agents or bargains, so we can focus our efforts on the other end of the pitch.

Enda, Egan or Jack get injuries, we could find ourselves fucked. Bash is a legend but he'll be exposed in the Prem, badly. Baldock is nowt like a top league player.
These forwards had better be good cos we're shipping goals next season at this rate.

Wonder how signing a rcb and play basham at rwb might work out. He’d spend more time defending than attacking, against the top teams anyway, and he’s definitely fit enough

No mate, I don’t like to be a pest
Only asked about Maupay, Austin & Freeman and felt like I was asking too much

Maupay was close but still work today
Freeman a formality
Austin nothing in it

Our squad does look very short at the moment. My major concern is how thin on the ground we appear to be and our reliance on our first XI being capable of stepping up.

Two recently promoted teams have assessed Norwood as not being up to the required standard. I don’t worry about his footballing ability so much as his physicality - will we be overrun with just him in there? I can’t forget that he does have a tendency to be quite inconsistent, having an absolute stinker in one in every 4-5 games. This is likely to increase a level up. I’d like to see someone like Leroy Fer brought in so that we can switch things up, bearing in mind the traffic will often be coming against us.

Baldock & Basham, for me, don’t look like Premiership starters. Basham could be a great asset from the bench - coming on to tighten things up, covering 2-3 positions in case of injury, a solid utility man. But we know from watching him he’s prone to defensive lapses and his positioning isn’t the best. We’re going to come under severe pressure in a lot of games next season and I think if we ask too much of him he will be badly exposed.
Baldock on the other hand will probably cope defensively, but our system requires a lot from our wing backs in an attacking sense. He’s been here two seasons now and still he doesn’t offer much going forwards. We can’t waste territory and sadly, Baldock will do this.

Cover for Fleck & Stevens is needed and completion / upgrades on Duffy & Sharp too.

There’s a lot of work to be done in this transfer window and a lot of money will need to be spent.

We do need some competition though

Playing while needing a hernia op for most of the games since January has to surely be factored in to that assessment.
That, and it being complete bollocks

By that calculation he had about 10 stinkers last year, in a team that was automatically promoted.

He had 2 or 3 “stinkers”, tops.

Others rejected him and we’re wrong. A much better manager - Wilder, has determined this.

So do I. I’m just trying to come up with a way of solving keef’s problems while saving money for the forwards

How very Blades-like this all is!
Biggest chunk of money and biggest opportunity in the club's history and we're debating whether we should have a sub standard attack or sub standard defence. And as it stands, we're having both!

I think we're quite a bit short of having a team with a shot of staying up

1 x GK
1 x LWB (cover)
1 x RWB
possibly 1 x LCB
1 x RCB
1 x CB (cover)
2 x CM (cover or starters)
1 x AMC
2 x ST

I think that's the least we need and it's making assumptions that we won't have a lot of injuries or suspensions and that everyone is capable of stepping up. I don't for one second think we'll have all those by the end of August. Maybe by the end of January. We don't really have any youth players who are ready to step up in a crisis so need to recruit for the worst case scenario.

Pace is a priority for me. Both in terms of acceleration and speed and how quickly we can move the ball. If we play the same way and build up slowly and overload we're going to get absolutely taken apart on the counter if we're not careful. I assume we won't play that way, but who knows.

I thought Wilder said he wanted to complete the signing of two or three players, before they fly out to Portugal?

If that’s correct, he’s got three days left 😬

What time is it acceptable to be concerned that we need so many new players and nobody is, as of yet, coming.

As it stands we need some new players for sure but we should judge when the window closes not now - as frustrating as it is right now. And that's coming from someone who is very impatient!
