From one of the posts further up, I quite like the idea of Robinson, Watkins and Brownhill.
You'd have good movement and adaptability in the forwards you'd have a midfielder who would fit nicely in a flat 3 on the right or potentially further forward.
All would increase their resale value with top level exposure but crucially none of them are such 'big time' players that you couldn't imagine them forming part of a team to mount a promotion push should we not stay up.
I can of course see the attraction to Rodriguez and at 5m you would argue getting your money back would not be unexpected.
I don't see Maupay as an option as I think his valuation will just hit the 20m mark with Villa fans and, given Abraham will stay at Chelsea, there is an obvious vacancy there.
We seem 50/50 with McBurnie which I see as more realistic but I can see him going there, especially with his former manager in place and as going for Robinson as back up option, which may well turn out for the best, who knows?
It would add to the spirit of having more international teammates. Maybe Connell could also be attained.
Connell as LWB and Fleck competition. Brownhill as an alternative to Duffy. Watkins and Robinson to complement Sharp and then Hendo on loan. Add perhaps the younger players in Eastwood as 3rd choice keeper, perhaps Norrington-Davies, Slater and Smith - I'd rather we have a few home grown youngsters than a player signed just for the sake of it, and maximise the budget for first team starters.
Just needs competition for Bash and maybe one more.
As long as we are in place by the first game then no need to panic.
