You happy for me to pin this post and show it you when he's England's number 1?
Absolutely, it's not beyond the bounds of reason that he'll play for England, I don't think he'll ever be good enough to nail down that slot to the exclusion of other keepers and I don't think he's worth 12m today.

So your telling me we cant muster 12m to sign the best young english keeper in the game ill pledge this now if we dont spend over 35m i will sell my season ticket and hold me to it pls
I honestly thought we would have to lose a couple of games before we started to see the Bladey Meltdown Circus. How silly of me.

12m for Hendo and everybody is fine with it?
This isn't 1920s Germany, he's a good Championship keeper who still has mistakes in him.
Applying normal day logic you are of course correct, however that's not the world Premiership teams live in. I would 100% agree he isn't anywhere near the finish article.
This season is going to be a steep learning curve, and I believe he'll cost us at least a game this season.
However, the following is the reason you're logic is wrong;

He's 22 years old, with experience of being one of the top keepers in the Championship, in a very competitive field.
At 22 he's got at least 6 years until he's getting into his prime. You are paying for his potential and in this league at £12m you can afford it if some of this type of signing doesn't come off.
After a single year of PL appearances and experience, his value would double.
If we are relegated, he would again be a top keeper at that level, and would retain his value in that if a PL wanted to sign him it would cost more than we paid.
He's fitted into the dressing room and works well with the centre halves we already have, not to mention coaching staff.
£12 isn't close to being excessive for an unproven youngster moving to the Premiership. Brooks, James, etc.
Angus Gunn is the current benchmark for young English keepers at £13 million to be Southampton's No 2.
To purchase the finished article would cost considerably more in fee's and wages.

Does anybody remember one year ago, when we had to sign Jamal Blackman?
More pressing cases for the money; we're in a savage spiral of transfer fees which can't be maintained (not even when everybody in the Prem gets 100m minimum), everybody hold your nerve, transfer fees will settle down again.

It’s not just the 12 million though is it. 4 year contract at Man U and will be on big money. However much he wants to come here we won’t be anywhere near matching his wages.

While I think there is a group of fans who clearly love Hendo and would sign him no matter what, there is a healthy majority who see him for what he is, and where he is in his career.
Even without the inflated prices and hype, Hendo is worth £12million right now, which is why I think Man Utd actually would want closer to £15M, which is a stretch for him.
I reckon at £12M we would have done the deal.

Just let me know when you want to sell.

I remember the uproar when we signed Brayford... £2m "on a fucking right back!!"

Imagine if we more than doubled our transfer record...."on a fucking goalkeeper"

Half the forum would top themselves

That wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing. Fewer duplicate threads.

So everyone on here thinks we could easy match his Man U wages / contract then? 😂

Let’s hope the delay is hendo signing an improved Man U contract and us delaying the signing so as not to pay his wages for an extra month. Which I assume it is.

Otherwise taking months to agree a loan when the loaning club has said they want it to happen and the player wants to come would be pretty worrying indeed.

Anyone getting the feeling he's not coming back? Latest interview he's said he's waiting for his house to get done up in Manchester. Be gutted if he doesn't come back

So if he lives in the newly done up house in Manchester,it means he can't play for United?.Has he been banned from driving and from traveling on the rail network?
