Still think we will sign Charlie Mulgrew and for the good of his career we need to at least loan out Eastwood and bring in 2 keepers. Even if it pushes Moore down to 3rd choice.

Mulgrew? Where has that come from? He’s the opposite of what we are after.
 
What ever happened to Rico Henry. LWB at Brentford. He was awesome at one bit but not heard much of him lately.

He would be good to challenge Stevens

I’m not saying we’re after him but just because he’s 33 doesn’t mean we wouldn’t sign him. He’s a good versatile player, and Chris loves that left footed balance so we definitely need at least 1 left footed defender

Im being completely serious, he's a very good player and shouldn't cost the earth, hes also a very good set piece taker and at 33 has experience on his side, I'm not suggesting we sign him for a starting position but one position that needs filling is back up LCB and he ticks all the boxes for that role.
 
Mulgrew, NO!

James seems to have attracted interest from Everton and Man United now, so that's a no already.

CW has said he wants up and coming talent from the championship. He doesn’t tick that box. As good a player he is. We won’t be purchasing a player who’s 33.

Im sure we will sign players who are up and coming and I agree we should, I also heard him say that. But when it comes to cover there isn't any point in paying a premium for potential.

Id expect that we will sign cover for LCB and them to be experienced ie Craine esq and also a Back up keeper who is past 30
 
I think we can expect a few surprises along the way, I don't think Norwood was even on Ricky 's radar at the beginning of last season.

We need to factor in loan players too, am I right in thinking we're allowed two?

And it's this exact reason why I think we will probably bring back our loanees Hendo (loan)/Dowell/Madine/Hogan

And then we can look at:
A flagship 1st team striker (Maupay, McBurnie, Assombalonga, Adams)
ACM in rotation with Dowell - Jota, Freeman or Watkins
LWB/Overlapping CB - Reece James (Loan) (edit - probably out of our reach!)
Holding CB - Jags - Free
Another Overlapping CB - Zuparic?
CM - Obi Mikel - Free, K.Phillips
Backup GK - Sluga

Should be do-able with £40-£50m (providing we spend approx £30-40m transfer fees and then wages on top of that)

And avoids disrupting the squad too much with only 7/8 players inbound

Slater looked decent against Betis in my view. It would be great if he could step up to fill a squad role as 5th choice CM

I think Jags will replace Basham and be first cover for Egan.

Egan gets injured or suspended, Jags moves inside and Basham gets his shirt back. Stearman is for when the shit has hit the fan

I do think Jagielka still has pace but does he have the energy or even the desire to play the Basham role? Not so sure he does

Basham is the most vulnerable of last seasons back 3 to be replaced but I think Wilder will give a chance with the other 2 first off, which is well deserved imo.

You might be right. There is also a chance that the Basham role is significantly toned down next season. Jags certainly had a go a couple of times in Portugal in daft heat so maybe he'll be OK at it from time to time.

I’m far from a staunch Basham fan quite the opposite. But he certainly earned the right to play his part. From what CW Has said we won’t be changing our approach, however I do see us tweaking our game management methods.

I’d expect to see Jags introduced from the bench more if we are a ahead around the 60 minute mark. And go to a flat back 4
