Being the bore I am, I was interested as to what the occasionally mentioned in interviews "Premier League requirements" are when it comes to Bramall Lane, so I had a snazz at this season's Premier League handbook and I can't see how we'll do some of it without actual construction, particularly the gantry and the studios as outlined here:

The gantry, I don't know, is that 19m wide? Is that where the cameras would be or would they be at the back of the South, either way, I wouldn't say so from underneath it, maybe 12/15m, can we extend that? Is it safe to do so? I went up there once and it was not a particularly luxurious place to be.

We also have to provide room for about 20 radio commentators with screens and whatnot, though I don't think they need to be outside.

We have to give the media seats in a stand which needs to be near to a media suite/centre thing, which in turn needs to be in the same stand as the dressing rooms. It's a reyt ballache.

And the studios, two 5*5m studios with massive windows, for me that can only be placed in the empty Kop corner, hence the thread title.

Hopefully the week headstart after getting promoted last week has given Kev and co time to get on the blower to the architects because there's going to have to be some construction me thinks.

Also the dugouts are one seat short of PL requirements. A small but annoying one.

Are those to be built immediately for the first season, or is there flexibility (eg within a year of promotion)?

You have to get dispensation/ go before a panel if you're unable to have them by the time you're in the Premier League and they adjudicate. Don't think they're stupendously strict, more they expect you to meet their standard unless you're, for example, Bournemouth and are in a pokey little ground and are planning a move.

It'd be great if the TV cameras were in the John St, the viewing position and angle are much better than the SS gantry.

It's also the best view of the rest of the ground, by virtue of not having to look at the John St.

Disagree. The viewing angle from our gantry is pretty unique. You don't see many other clubs with a view from that close and high up.

It's one of the few viewing angles over the last 30 years that hasn't changed (with the small exception of the very few occasions that a temporary gantry was set up on the building site of John St in the 90's.

Ring Chris Wilder. He can build magical things.

Fuck me it's going to be a long close season

If it wasn't for the fact that I'll be going on holiday at some stage before the new season I'd be trying desperately to get my hands on one of those cryogenic chambers they feature in space films where you set the timer for arrival and sleep through the journey.

It's going to get bad on here isn't it? :(
