Last Thursday, my wife and I welcomed our firstborn into the world, and I'll tell you what lads, it's been a rollercoaster already. Induced in unexpected circumstances, witnessing labour for the first time and then experiencing a love so strong your heart could burst. A love only intensified by the fact that we've had a little girl and she's already the centre of my universe and she's very much a Daddy's girl. Thankfully now, we're home and Mum and baby are doing really well.

Any words of advice for the months and years ahead are truly welcome. And as for the bank holiday, what an Easter weekend it was, she currently knows United as played 2, won 2!

Oh, and she's got her outfit sorted for Saturday...

Congratulations mate. Our little daughter is 8 weeks old on Sunday. She's the most important thing in the world!
My only advise (in my very short experience!) would be to trust your instincts and work together to get some sleep. I was fortunate enough to get a month off work, so my wife and I could regularly stay up until 3 or 4 am to allow the better half to sleep. Netflix will become your 2am friend (if you haven't watched the Sunderland documentary, watch it!)
Oh and buy Ewan the dream sheep! Best thing ever

Had something in my eye there for a minute. Well done and all the best feller.

Great stuff, Koz. May you have her lumping crosses into Row ZZ as soon as she can swing a peg. :) Very best of luck to you all. I’m actually jealous of all the stuff you have in front of you.

Congratulations. Have you got her a name yet? I’m thinking Tracey Kelly.

Or Roberta.

“Samantha”?

Mate I've got a 4 week old little girl (Annie) and I could have wrote exactly the same. Exact same circumstances!

Just enjoy it, there are some really tough times in the first couple of weeks but they do end and are far outweighed by the good times.

Congratulations mate, really pleased for you

Really chuffed for you and your missus, pal. Many congratulations! and pass our regards on to your mum and dad....They're gonna be over the moon at being grandparents.

At the moment you are on the upslope of a giant rollercoaster. Over the next few years you will have to deal with first words, first illness, first tooth, school, making friends, losing friends, taking tests, going to senior school, getting boyfriends/ girlfriends, losing boyfriends/girlfriends, waiting for them to come home after a night out, taking exams, leaving home to go to university, watching them get their degree, leave home for good, get married, buy a house, get divorced, more illness, get jobs, lose jobs, become self sufficient, make their way in the world without your help, come crying to you when they need your help.

Then, just as the rollercoaster is coming round the last bend into the station, they say they are pregnant and expecting your first grandchild and the whole circuit starts again. Trust me, it's some ride.

Congratulations Kozzy! I've been a dad for 33 years. Being a parent and doing it right is the hardest but best job ever (although we've made some reyt cock-ups along the way!). I hope you'll be as proud of your little one as I still am of my two fantastic kids - I'm sure you will!!!!
