Away fans next season

Can't just give away fans the top tier because Premier League rules state away fans should be next to the pitch.

Not at Newcastle (in the gods) and at Man Utd you are in an upper tier away from the pitch

Seems you can get round the rule on the grounds of safety so our SAG will have a field day on this issue. Wonder if that applies to the 3,000 minimum away allocation also?

That would seem to be the more sensible solution. Unfortunate though that fans are being given mixed messages.

For a FA cup tie we would have to give away fans more than 2991 seats anyway, so that and they will want to keep some seat available for supporters who don't have season tickets i can see why they are not selling ST's for the upper tier. Shame the lane end can't be made one tier it would be much easier to adjust away allocation to suit demand, Having said that I thought there was a ruling coming out that away fans had to have access to pitch side rather than sticking them in a corner with only one means of evacuation.

The last time we were in the Prem. We gave Liverpool the lower tier and about a third of BLUT but we soon made a U turn and only gave the lower tier to the away fans after that.

Yeh we gave them 2,990 in the bottom tier and just over 1,500 in the BLUT.

Not allowed.
The PL rule is you MUST give away fans a minimum 3,000 or 10% of your capacity to away fans, whichever is lower.
If you can’t allocate away fans 3,000 then you need to have it agreed by the PL offering exceptional reasons usually built around safety and logistics, with no other options. The normal reason when they accept lower than 3000 is when a stadium is being redeveloped, so away fans are put somewhere on a temporary basis.

In the EFL this minimum 3,000 rule doesn’t exist.

Would it be an idea to hang fire on all this until at least about 7.15pm on Saturday? I'm optimistic, but rambling on about this at this point is a recipe for shooting ourselves in the foot, with the subsequent ridicule from all who dislike us and want to see us fail (and there's quite a few of them!!!).

Whatever they do with the upper tier, the idiotic restrictions on using the proper exits needs to be lifted. When it's full it's very dangerous forcing everyone out through the wobbly front staircase and merging into the packed exits of the corner and south stand. Whoever decided that creating a crush at both sides and having to navigate around the railings at the bottom of the gangways was safer than using the proper exits out the back is an idiot and unfit to have anything to do with safety.

No season tickets in the upper tier makes sense, there's barely any seats available in the corner since they started selling season tickets in there, so keeping it available for bigger away allocations or non season ticket holders is the sensible thing to do.

I can't remember what game it was, but they gave home fans the lower tier a couple of seasons ago for a game (can't remember where the aways fan were, upper tier maybe?).

We moved over because it was the only stand in the stadium I hadn't watched a game from. It was without doubt the worst view I've had in the stadium. The gradient is terrible, so even when you're further back you still feel pretty low/close to the pitch, with the added problem you have heads in the way.

Plus of course, segregation (leaving the stadium) would be an issue if they only had the upper. I imagine if they get the upper tier it will be in addition to the lower tier.

I think it was Arsenal in the cup.

We did it against Bolton in League One. Although away fans were on the upper tier still at that point.

I think when 3k away fans are really going for it in the lower tier. It makes us a lot more vociferous in our response.

Don't get your hopes up that SAG will go away. Wouldn't put it past them to say we can't go above 2,100 in the lower tier meaning we have to give both the top and bottom of the BLUT to away fans causing thousands of Blades to lose out on a seat. Can't just give away fans the top tier because Premier League rules state away fans should be next to the pitch. Mind you it would cause SAG palpitations at the thought of away fans being on the same level as Blades in the Westfield Upper.

Spurs away allocation is 3,000, the minimum requirement and just under 5% of their new ground total capacity. We could be forced by SAG to give up approaching 13% of our capacity.

Its not the sensible approach, it would p*ss off our fans who would lose out, give an advantage to away teams that no other Club in the Division provides so you would think we couldn't possibly agree to this. Well don't hold your breath the way we have bent over and been shafted by SAG in terms of segregation, ticket restrictions, pub closure enforcements and kick off times in the Championship suggests more of the same.

If we go up the Club should make it clear straightaway what is going to happen.
