Gary Madine interview

I think Madine wins just about every ball in the air. I think he gives us a different option. He’s technically better than I thought he was. He’s also composed in front of goal and is a physical presence.

If we could get him on the cheap I’d take him, for now. But no I don’t think he’s Prem standard.

Get Maupay from Brentford. He’s the nearest thing to a young Billy Sharp outside of the Prem and he’d fit our style of play beautifully.

He’s worth shelling out a bit of money for imo.

Connor Sammon will come good eventually. You heard it here first!

(And the sun shall rise in the West and set in the East).

He is a target man, and he's good at it.
HOWEVER he upsets our style of play and when ever he comes on the pich the rest of the plaers revert to the HOOF, so I'm sorry but it's a no from me.

I think we'll sign him if we go up.

We may need a target man more in the PL and there aren't too many others like him available to us.

Trouble is we'd only use him off the bench and that would never get him to Bash's level of fitness.

There's a reason Bash is so fit, he plays every game.

Impact players off the bench are rarely super fit.

I wonder if United being on the cusp of the Premiership has anything to do with Madine's fondness for the Blades?

Although far from dreadful, I ask myself if Madine's done enough to convince me he'd offer a great deal more against Premiership defenders? Surely someone like Mcburnie has far more in his locker and plays the role of CF with greater effectiveness.

I would be disappointed if he was made permanent. Odd how he cut his ties with Cardiff as you would think they would want him more in the championship than we will in the Premiership.

I'd guess moving him on before he made more appearances saved a shit load of cash.

His wages were probably in line with what we'd have had to fork out for The guy at Donny (can't remember his name), so it was a good move at the time.

We’ll be under the cosh a lot next season. We will need a targetman to come off the bench and allow us to make it stick and build.

Alternatively we’ll need some pace to counter too.

Sam Vokes?

He could be the new Stewart Beavon!

I must say, I’m looking forward to seeing the “player suggestion” threads at the end of this season

It provides a fascinating insight into those fans who have realised we will be competing in the very best football league in the world, and those who are still thinking of us at the level we are now, or lower!

I’d anticipate a minimum of 30% of the current squad will go, if we want to survive at the next level up.

If we are a PL club next season, GM would be a shocking permanent additional to the side.

Good / decent for a championship club, not a PL one.

On top of which, as much as many will disagree, has he pulled any trees up for us ?

From my perch, not. Emphatically not.

I can see where Wilder was going with this and he was 100% correct to do the loan deal. Something different up top. I get it.

But the bottom line is that the physical handful and effective striker we saw play against us recently in a Bolton and a Cardiff shirt has NOT been evident in a Blades one. My view might be different on a permanent transfer from Cardiff (at the right price) if there had been such evidence.

In the PL, we will need better. Much better.

UTB.

Don't think you're looking at it the correct way.

If you think we'll be playing the style of football we are playing this season in the Premier League to a decent level, you're mistaken.

We need to have a lot of grit, determination and the ability to grind out wins when they matter. Madine fits that.

Bollox to this we could have Andy Carroll for nowt, just need to get him on PAYG.

Or right off games against Man C/U, Liverpool/Arsenal/Chelsea but have a go at them and win games against the remaining also rans.

Wilder and his mob will be OK.

It's not for me.
Dont like the bloke and never will. Quicker hes out of our club the better. Hes shit anyway.

My view KN when he first arrived. Totally revised my thoughts on him now. He is a far better player than I gave him credit for.

I'm not one to attack others for a differing opinion so I'll just say, is he though?
Yeah hes done ok in the Hanson role but going forward would you really keep him, promoted or not. I guess hes on a very decent wage given his 6m move but I'd rather punt on an up and coming player or two over him. Wilder does have an eye for a gem.
I'll never forgive him the attack on a Blade but besides that I just dont think hes offered that much consistently.

I actually would keep him. Vokes has been mentioned , and I like him but, is he any better than Madine ? not pulling up many trees at Stoke, yet, he has made a decent fist of playing in the premiership in the past. To say he has missed 3 games through suspension, I don't think his goal return is that bad for us personally.

Fair enough but I just dont see him as a 6m player. Hed have to come down half that to justify a squad number imo and the relevant wage.
Half decent bench option in the championship but nowhere near prem quality for me.

Having spent a f*cking eternity getting to a position of winning promotion back to the prem. We will need to cast our aim higher than Volkes & Madine, if we want to stay there. Serious £’s will need to be spent getting at least one, if not two goal scorers on a least a temporary basis.

Just what we want heading into our most important game for years.

Pathetic. I’d much sooner you were out of the club than him. You’re a shit fan anyway.
You always were my favourite most reasonable poster.
Thanks for the reply. It's an honour. :)

Noooo! Were Blades. We must settle for scraps.
Beginning to wonder if you are a pig? Setting your bar so high. ;)
