I was celebrating and will continue to do so today
I personally don't care how we play in these these last three games as long as we do enough damage and look to win them all.

Draws and defeats can't always be helped, but encouraging the opponents onto us is not our best tactic, we don't get away with it unless the other team has a nightmare in front of goal, as well as giving fans a thousand heart attacks each game.

One last Massive effort needed, three games, three wins, job done. Go and fucking grab it United, No caution, No jitters, no stupidity, just go and grab it and make it happen.

I absolutely understand everything you say with regard to the Blades and largely echo your sentiments.
Regarding life and the big wide world I have to disagree. There aren't enough hours in the day for all the things I want to do, places I want to go and people I want to meet.

A little perspective is needed in the warm afterglow of a heavy day’s drinking. We limped past an out of form, team of 10 men with nothing to play for. A team so bad, that they’d not won an away game since November. Quite probably the worst Forest side I’ve seen in a long while.

We approached it in the very same manner as we had done a week earlier against Millwall, despite CW bitching in the press. After all the shouting & kerfuffling in the aftermath of that game, we still dropped deep after scoring, messing about with formations and attempted to see things out yesterday. The only difference being that he brought the worse midfielder currently on our books on, instead of the second worst and we got very lucky with a 2nd goal, provided by a wing back, something that his more attacking colleagues seemed impotent to provide.

Our play for the most part yesterday was disjointed and without tempo. No one prepared to take the game by the scruff of the next. It looks like the switch to a more direct style of play hasn’t meshed with everyone. Using Madine as an unfocused focal point. Nobody appears to play off of him in a traditional sense, and he doesn’t appear to know what his teammates are doing. Norwood still played too deep, as did McG, who must be the most frustrating strike partner. We still lack mobility and pace in the final 3rd, both from a front line going beyond the defence and from a midfield capable of breaking through the lines.

Then, through more luck than judgement Wigan manage to put in a defensive performance akin to Rourkes Drift and we miraculously find ourselves back in 2nd. CWAK can’t claim any credit for that. They showed a resolve that we’d been unable to show against both an inferior Bristol City and Millwall. Yesterday we stood on the shoulders of Wigan and with 3 games left, promotion is ours to toss away. Again.

We face a competent and dangerous Hull side on Monday, one with a promotion challenging quality home form. Their manager has also now found a more receptive home & group of players, to his teachings. If we don’t liven up and quickly, we could be in for a beating and be made to look very average. Hull score goals at home.

As a final point, I think it’s odd that whenever play someone, they think we’re shit. They don’t say the same about Norwich, Leeds or Villa. A word of warning; we’re Sheffield United, don’t believe the hype.

And that young lad’s pace was a thorn in our side.

Regarding my description of the midfielders, how would you rank, fleck, Dowell, Norwood, Duffy, lundstram, coutts, in order of capability and ability? If you find yourself second from bottom of the list, you are either 2nd worst or 5th best. Semantics, innit.

I’m not doubting McG’s ability, but the way he plays, the deep ness of the positions he takes up & his decision making makes it very difficult for his striking partner to have a symbiotic relationship with him. That’s the point I made, and that’s my view. If he’s scoring goals & winning games, that can be overlooked. When he doesn’t square it to make it 4-0 and game over against Villa, it gets criticised.

You do make your points well.

The point is, we ground them down over 90 minutes. Maybe not our most fluid performance, but they’re just knackered I think. And it was professional in that we kept the ball, worked them and got two breakthroughs. It’s difficult to create chance after chance when they sit back with 10 and when, crucially, you don’t need to because you’re winning. We kept them at arm’s length and picked up a second on the break.

To put it another way, what did they create?

I don’t doubt Coutts is playing below his ability and doesn’t look fit, but he’s barely played. In my view he’s our best midfielder, though he definitely hasn’t been this season. And Johnson is definitely a midfielder!

I think McG plays how it’s meant to be played and he’s been fantastic, particularly the last couple. Sharp has thrived next to him and when he drops deeper, it’s vital to how we play. If he can’t play with Madine or Hogan, that’s mainly a lack of practice. If we go up, McG has played a monumental role in it I think.
